Meet Kathryn Andrews, 2026 Art Awards Recipient

Kathryn Andrews is the Founder and Director of The Judith Center, a Los Angeles–based nonprofit organization that addresses structural gender inequity through interdisciplinary initiatives spanning the arts, sciences, and public policy. Andrews is also a conceptual artist whose work takes shape in a variety of media including sculpture, installation, large-scale printmaking, and performance. Her work invites viewers to consider their own relationship to histories of violence, including everyday systems of commodification and exchange.

Join us on Sunday, July 12, 2026 as we celebrate Kathryn Andrews.

Tickets available online, link in our bio. Tickets, tables, and sponsorships raise critical funds for the museum. Help us remain a free space for all.

Join us on Saturday June 27th at 1pm for a special artist walkthrough with Tama Takahashi.

“Memories of Barbed Wire: Resilience in the Japanese American
Community” is an emotional portrayal of the concentration camp in
Minidoka used to incarcerate over 13,000 of the 120,000 Japanese
Americans imprisoned during WW II. Through large-scale photographs
printed on vellum, two sculptural pieces and a video installation, multi-
media artist Tama Takahashi revisits her family’s personal experience in
camp. Her father’s family was forced from Seattle to Minidoka, located in
the isolated, wind-whipped eastern side of Idaho.

This event is free to the public. For any questions or to let us know you’ll be joining us, email [email protected]

Stone Bodies / Cuerpos de Piedra — Video Performance Premiere

Join us for the premiere of Stone Bodies / Cuerpos de Piedra, a video performance by María Adela Díaz at the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara.

🗓️ Saturday, May 16
🕰️ 3–5 PM

A collective action of endurance and care, Stone Bodies brings together 13 women in the creation and activation of a 1,500-piece ceramic chain—carrying 500 pounds of shared weight. The work speaks to migration, interdependence, and the often-invisible labor of women, transforming the body into a site of resistance, memory, and belonging.

Presented as a video installation with sound.
Come witness, listen, and hold space.
