The gallery has been pretty quiet so far this year, but that will change on July 2nd when we open for the 2020 season.
Hours will be limited this year to Thursday - Saturday 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and we will follow Federal and NH guidelines for everybody's safety. But you don't have to come in person. Check our website (surroundingsart.com) for what is available and contact us if you would like to make a purchase.

It's going to be a busy weekend at 12 Main Street! Advice to the Players will be holding their annual rummage sale, and the Gallery will be open for our usual hours! We hope you will swing in and pick yourself out a piece of artwork - and maybe find some rummage treasures along the way!

Sincerely enamored with nature, Wendy Lichtensteiger has been documenting its offerings since her childhood on Erskine Lake, NJ. By direct observation and through photographs, sketches, and natural found objects, Wendy has developed a sincere respect for the mysterious wonder of plants and animals and the integrated relationship they maintain. This piece is entitled "Minke Whale".

Gretchen Warsen’s pieces are all abstract, water-based mixed media and pencil on Yupo paper (a synthetic, waterproof, recyclable paper). Many of her pieces were inspired by something small, or seemingly-insignificant yet beautiful, that caught her eye that morning—a new leaf, the lines on a bridge, insect wings, etc. While she is painting and drawing, Gretchen likes to ask questions like, “What if God designed a mailbox?” or “What if a building had moth wings?” This piece is entitled "Blue X-Ray".

Once again the galleries of Sandwich will be open after hours for our annual Gallery Walk from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening, August 17th. Ann Musto Art Demonstration at Surroundings Art Gallery

Ann Musto will be demonstrating her creative process on Saturday, August 11th from 12 - 2pm. Ann began her art career over 20 years ago and now works primarily in natural light outdoors, and then composes her studio pieces from various plein air studies. She does this in order to use the studies to understand the light in the landscape and the atmospheric conditions while staying true to color and tone as seen in real time. It is the atmosphere and light that attracts the imagination when outdoors and leaves lasting impressions, which she works to capture.

Ann has had several solo shows and won a number of awards in the past at various art festivals and contests. In 2017, she was a finalist in Artist Magazine’s Plein Air Contest and received the R. Duffy Memorial Award from the Academic Artist Association in 2016. Besides Surroundings Art Gallery, she also has worked at the NW Barrett Gallery in Portsmouth, NH and the South Street Gallery in Hingham, MA.
