As I was cutting the slab, I was wondering… “Why am I working with this color?” Usually, I try to go for more extreme patterns. I thought, “this might be a little bit plain.” I thought that, until I laid out of design on this very easy, consistent surface, and then I accidentally held it up to the light and saw this beautiful internal glow. I feel very inspired at the moment by this glow…

I can’t wait to create something with these yummy slabs! I love the rind. Thanks, Roman!

I told myself to start finishing what I started, but all of a sudden it became important to cut more slabs.🤫

This Siberian Jade “Ball” ring took way longer than I thought it would to set, but…….. I learned a lot and it at least looks interesting. I tried some new techniques and I learned some things like…. Anyway, it’s done, and useable, but, perhaps a bit extreme for most!;0✅

Today I started work on one of my “natural“ ball rings. I’ve made a few of these in the past one for a client that was a natural ocean polished Big Sur bauble, one that was a gorgeous natural California moonstone bauble, and this one which is a fabricated stone. I intend for these to be like amulet to take a magical stone with you when you walk around. I am looking forward to seeing what this looks like once it is polished. I have other stones in the works that are not quite like this one, but the stones are very gorgeous. Excited to work on these… I feel blessed.

This is my first attempt at making an “natural“ ball ring. I’ve done one of these before and an ocean polish and also one in a beautiful moon stone. Anyway, so far I’m happy with this. You never quite know what they will look like until you’re done. At least I’ve got it set up and all I have to do is set and polish it now. I tried to make the shank look a little bit rustic and I think it’s OK. Anyway, we’ll see what it looks like later in the week…

The secret hunting grounds of the East must be incredible, but, since they are not ours, I am attempting to make some “Nat Thwe” jade balls in Siberian green. The “term “Nat Thwe” means “Spirit Polished” in Burmese. On the coast, we call them “Ocean Polished.“ [It’s interesting that we each have a term for the same effect. I’m sure the Cali Jaders have their own definitions of Spirit.]. Anyway, it’s my fantasy… I’m trying to make specimens in the workshop. Let’s see how they ultimately will turn out….
