The Wi******er Mystery House is the beautiful but bizarre mansion built by Sarah Pardee Wi******er, heiress of the Wi******er Repeating Arms fortune. Construction began in 1884, and didn’t stop for 38 years until her death in 1922. The architectural wonder and historic landmark in San Jose, CA was once the personal residence of the tragedy-ridden Mrs. Wi******er.
Haunted and tortured by the spirits of Wi******er Rifle victims, Mrs. Wi******er moved to California and built the dizzying Victorian-style structure with many odd and mysterious features. Doors that open to walls, stairways that lead to the ceiling, and many more oddities in the massive mansion. Featuring 160 rooms, 52 skylights, 47 stairways and fireplaces, 17 chimneys, 13 bathrooms, and 6 kitchens, the mansion is a staggering 24,000 square feet.
The mysteries and more are what has drawn over 12 million guests to visit the Wi******er Mystery HouseTM since it opened to the public in 1923.
Wi******er Mystery HouseTM offers daily “Mansion Tours” that guide guests through the famed areas of the house, and a deeper inside-look of the house on the “Explore More Tour”, which travels through areas that have been off-limits to the public for 90-years.
