WHEN ART AND BEAUTY COLLIDE
There are moments when a photograph becomes something more than an image.
Photographer Chris Klopf has an incredible ability to find those moments—where light, movement, style and the ocean come together and suddenly become art.
No distractions. No explanation needed.
Just beauty, captured for a fraction of a second and preserved forever.
Because sometimes the most powerful photographs aren't simply documenting surfing.
They are art.

Some of the greatest surf trips were never about chasing what was already known. They were about taking the road that ended in dirt, trusting a hand-drawn map, following a rumor, or paddling around a headland just to see what was there.
Before surf forecasts, GPS, and social media, discovery was part of every journey. Empty lineups, unfamiliar coastlines, and the thrill of finding a wave with only your friends to share it with. Those moments became stories that lasted a lifetime.
The destination was never just the wave—it was the adventure of the unknown that made it unforgettable.
Here's to the explorers who packed the boards, pointed the car toward the horizon, and discovered a little piece of magic along the way.

DAN MERKEL × LARRY BERTLEMANN
It was an honor to collaborate with The Surfer’s Journal on their latest issue, featuring Dan Merkel’s extraordinary collection of photographs of Larry Bertlemann.
This week, we’ll be sharing more from the archive—some images you may recognize, others that have rarely, if ever, been seen.
Most take us back to the late 1970s, an epic moment in surfing when Larry was redefining what could be done on a wave. His low center of gravity, deep turns, speed, power and unmistakable style influenced an entire generation. We’ll also go further back, sharing photographs of a younger Larry and glimpses of the surfer he was becoming.
Dan Merkel was there to capture it.
Two legends. One behind the lens. One in front of it.
A remarkable collection from a remarkable time in surfing history.
History never gets old.
