SS Jeremiah O'Brien, National Liberty Ship Memorial

Last Thursday I spied another Jeremiah O’Brien volunteer crewmember, John Hermann repairing clips holding up some of our wiring on the port side. Since we couldn’t find any of these clips, after all who ever made them 83 years ago wasn’t around to help us, we made them ourself. John was a welder in an earlier life, and he tells me that welding, well it’s not quite like riding a bike. Personally I think he’s got it down pretty well. It’s small projects and the wonderful volunteers that make the O’Brien a special place. We are always on the hunt for volunteers for all departments, if you know anyone please pass the word along. departments, if you know anyone please pass the word along.

Come Sail With Us!

It's that time of year again! Our biggest cruise of the year is coming up! This year, Fleet Week will be October 10th and 11th. Goodbye Shipmate...

It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of our Chief Engineer Jon Eaton. A long time engineer with Matson, he brought much experience to our ship. Not only that, but he was one of the nicest, kindest people that you could ever meet. In our crew mess, he would always sit in his usual spot with his one coffee mug he would always drink from. He will be missed. It is always hard to loose a shipmate. Fair winds and following seas!

Today a few of the Urban Explorers are aboard, so is the elusive purple dancing man, with the sun out it a great day to visit the SS Jeremiah O’Brien.
