USD STEAM Youth and Community Conference

Join the 9th Annual STEAM Youth and Community conference at the University of San Diego on Saturday, July 19, 2025!





Conference activities: Interactive STEAM workshops led by STEAM experts, student showcase of STEAM projects, games hosted by students and educators, engaging and inspiring presentations from STEAM professionals and leaders, and an opportunity drawing to win prizes for the whole family! Delicious lunch included as well!

Students K-12: Do you have a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) project you'd like to present to the community? Fill out this form to present your project at the conference on Saturday, July 19 from 10-11am!

The Conservation and Environmental Stewardship Apprenticeship Program (CESAP) provides girls the opportunity to do real science, communicate that science through innovative methods such as using art, and learn from diverse women in STEAM mentors in San Diego's only national park.

Looking for OPPORTUNITIES to provide STEM EDUCATION to an underserved community? Interested in a chance at FREE publicity and outreach to students in San Diego County?

Host a booth at the 3rd Annual STEAM FAIR at Valley Elementary School!

Event details:

The STEAM Fair is on Saturday April 27, 2024 from 9 am - 1 pm. This will be our 3rd Annual STEAM Fair and like past years, will be held on the Valley Elementary campus in Poway. It is a FREE event for families with booths of hands-on science and art activities, a mini maker space, performances, prizes, and food trucks for kids and families to enjoy.

Guess what? It is FREE to host a booth! All we ask is that each booth provide a hands-on science or art activity geared towards students in TK-5th grade. Organizations are encouraged to showcase their promotional materials as well. We hope that this event will provide greater access to STEAM opportunities to our families and the community. Some background:

As a Foundation, we raise funds to help bridge the gap between what students and teachers need to succeed and what is provided by the district. We also have an emphasis on providing access and opportunity to STEAM Education to our community which includes hosting STEAM events on campus and providing funding support to create the first ever Innovations Lab on our campus!

Since Poway Unified has a strong reputation for its top-ranked schools, it is easy to not realize that many of our students are actually struggling. In fact, 42% of students at Valley Elementary are socioeconomically disadvantaged, 188% higher than the district average. Our Foundation relies on community support to enrich the educational experience at our Title I school to ensure all students can achieve their potential. Additionally, Valley Elementary is a unique learning community in that over 60% of its students participate in a Spanish Dual Immersion Program, helping to support the English Language Learning population which accounts for over 30% of our student body.
