Seaport Village Fine Art
"You are a Sunday porch I could do nothing on... and feel like everything was happening."
-Derrick Brown, excerpt from Waltzing the Hurricane

Seaport Village is one of San Diego's cool free 365 things to do in San Diego, CA. It's described as a "waterfront shopping and dining complex adjacent to San Diego Bay in downtown San Diego, California." For those that have never been, it's located at 849 West Harbor Drive, or at the intersection of Harbor Drive and Kettner Blvd.
It's home to more than 70 shops, San Diego Art Gallerys, and eateries on 90,000 square feet (8,000 m2) of waterfront property. The "Village" contains several freestanding buildings in an assortment of architectural styles, from Victorian to traditional Mexican. It is designed to be a car-free environment, with four miles (6 km) of winding paths rather than streets connecting the various buildings. It is located in walking distance from the San Diego Convention Center and the cruise ship terminal. -Wikipedia
I've been coming here as long as I can remember. When I was a kid, my family and I would come during the holidays to see Santa arrive. We'd arrive early and make an afternoon out of it, walking around checking out the different shops. I always enjoyed the Upstart Crow Bookstore & Coffee House, the Kite Shop (Kite Flite San Diego) and the old Magic Shop (the Magic Shop has since closed).
While the magic shop is no longer there, the magic that makes Seaport Village so special remains. It's a great place to visit and the special charm that makes it so unique, is stronger today than ever. I hope you enjoy this image I captured the other day, just after an early morning rain. (Maybe I'll see you down there for the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights in a couple weeks.)
