In "The 200 Year Decomposition Site" Ian van Coller works with various researchers who annotate his images of their sites of study. This is one of several works made in the HJ Andrews Experimental Forest Long-Term Ecological Research Site, OR with scientists working there. Experiments at the forest are intended to be conducted for 200-years.

The collaborator on this image, Dr. Seyfried, specializes in forest soil and watershed processes. Her research is particularly interested in how below-ground interactions between fungal communities and soil chemistry affect soil dynamics and greenhouse gas production.

Momentous Reckoning

This work confronts our perceptions and understanding of race and the legacies of history with a contemporary reckoning. appropriated negatives from the Jim Crow-era postcard archives of the prolific Detroit Publishing Company, then removed all but the sculpture's trace.

This work reminds us that our collective consciousness has not yet arrived at a place of national apology and reconciliation.
