STUDENT TAKE OVER!!

We are students in the Art Exhibit Design class, and we’ve been taking over the art gallery’s social media accounts! Over the next few weeks, we’ll continue sharing some of our experiences from the class.

Are you interested in learning what it takes to put on an art show? Skyline College has the class for you!

Art Exhibit Design, taught by Dr. Kathy Zarur, introduces students to the many aspects of putting on a show—from how curators find and work with artists, to making design decisions about how artworks are installed and displayed, to safely installing and handling artworks. It’s a great way to learn about all the work that goes into the art world!

The class also includes field trips to different galleries and artists’ studios, where students have the opportunity to speak with artists and/or curators about their work and shows.

Skyline College President, Dr. Nathan Carter, visited with two artists in the 26th Annual Student Show. Their artworks - and the stories that inspired them - are great examples of how art can introduce unexpected topics, like moving a lot, or the sacrifices that mothers make for their children.
