First Original McDonald's Museum

First Original McDonald's Museum In 1940, Dick and Mac Mcdonald opened McDonald's Barbecue Restaurant in San Bernardino, California, at 14th st. and E st. They had a staff of 20 attractive carhops and a 25 item menu that included barbecue ribs, beef, and pork sandwiches.

They soon became the #1 teen hangout in the San Bernardino. Although the brothers were becoming very wealthy, they felt that there were too many headaches to running a large operation and felt there had to be a better system. Dick Mcdonald started studying his sales item by item and realized that 80% of his sandwiches sold were hamburgers! The brothers also realized two more important factors that shaped their thinking.

Speedee Service System

Richard and Maurice McDonald 1948

Richard "Dick" (1909-1998) and Maurice "Mac" (1902-1971) McDonald first opened their restaurant in 1940, but re-created it in 1948 on the model of their "Speedee Service System".

The Speedee Service System applied the principles of production line manufacture to fast food, and formed the foundation of what Ray Kroc would later leverage to create the world's largest food outlet chain, and epitomise the Business Format Franchise Model.

I was amazed. They were serving hamburgers for 15 cents, french fries for 10 cents and milkshakes for 20 cents. And basically that was the menu, and I said, "that's for me" - Ray Kroc

What are the hours for visiting?
I hope you enjoy his article I wrote about your museum and the history of McDonald's.
Just went to the museum today with my daughter. Wonderful memories of the past of what Mc Donald’s was like when I was a kid.
Are you open to visit with the current Covid restrictions?
I was in the museum a few years ago and I must say it was a real blast from the past. Worth a visit and definitely worth talking to the nice gentleman who runs it (sorry but I don't remember his name). His is a real mission, not to forget how it all began. Great !
Ruth Spierling I did this. I donated Grandma and Grandpa's 101 & 102 Dalmatians to this museum. It is in loving memory of them both. I know this is what they would've wanted me to do.
Is there somewhere online I see the days/hours of the museum?

Andi f so would it be possible to lend it, of course under the standard restoration etc. conditions. If you have any ideas where to find such packaging otherwise would be very appreciated. Thanks!
