CALL FOR ART: DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: OCTOBER 25TH

San Antonio Art League + Museum members are invited to submit work for our upcoming holiday exhibition, Season of Wonder.
As the year draws to a close, this exhibition invites artists to explore moments of beauty, gratitude, mystery, renewal, and awe. From the natural world and changing seasons to cherished traditions, memories, and the creative process itself, we welcome your unique interpretation of wonder.
�� All media welcome
�� Submit up to 3 works for a $25 entry fee
�� 2D work: maximum 24" x 30"
�� 3D work: maximum 18" x 18" x 18", 25 lbs
�� All artwork must be for sale
�� Submission deadline: October 25, 2026
�� Acceptance notifications: November 1
�� Exhibition: November 22–December 18, 2026

A Golden Thread of Women Artists

Women have shaped the San Antonio Art League from its beginning. Founder Ethel T. Drought established the welcoming cultural circle from which the organization grew, and generations of women have continued to lead, teach, experiment, and open doors for other artists.

Among them was Mary Bonner, an acclaimed Texas printmaker active in the Art League during the 1930s. Amy Freeman Lee, named Artist of the Year in 1953, brought national recognition through her work as an artist, lecturer, humanist, and art critic. Fiber artist Martha Mood became Artist of the Year in 1967, demonstrating that textiles and stitchery could stand confidently within the world of fine art. More than fifty years later, nationally known fiber artist Jane Dunnewold was selected as Artist of the Year in 2019.

Together, these women form a remarkable creative thread running through the history of the Art League—and through the larger cultural history of San Antonio.

About the Artist – Alicia Tapp Designs — Ceramics
I began my artistic journey as a fashion illustrator in NYC, illustrating for world-renowned companies.
Through my creative process, I was recruited by a huge shoe company, designing and creating slippers for licensed companies: Hello Kitty, GI Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninjas, etc.
For the past 17 years, I have been transferring images onto tiles for indoor and outdoor use.
I have developed a signature technique in creating ceramic sculptures with a fresh sophistication that links narrative figurative fine art with my experience as a fashion illustrator.
In addition, I have created a line of extremely vibrant ceramic garden art with Monet-styled waterlilies.
