CALL FOR ARTISTS | POP-UP EXHIBITION

Inspired by Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 (“Pastoral”), this exhibition celebrates the beauty, power, and emotional resonance of the natural world. Rather than simply depicting scenery, Pastoral invites artists to explore their personal relationship with the landscape—its quiet moments, changing seasons, working fields, forests, waterways, wildlife, weather, and the sense of wonder, peace, or awe that nature inspires.

Artists are encouraged to submit work in any medium that reflects the spirit of the pastoral, whether through realistic landscapes, abstract interpretations, environmental themes, or contemporary perspectives on our connection to the land. From tranquil meadows to dramatic storms, cultivated fields to untamed wilderness, we welcome artwork that captures the many ways nature shapes our lives and imaginations..

This exhibition is in partnership with Salina Symphony and their perfomance of “Nature & Grandeur” which will take place on Sunday January 17th, 2027 at the Stiefel Theatre. This exhibition features German composer Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, “Pastoral”. From tranquil landscapes to monumental sound, Nature and Grandeur begins with Beethoven’s gently unfolding “Pastoral” Symphony, a heartfelt tribute to nature that captures birdsong, flowing streams, and the quiet joy of the countryside.

Salina Art Center is inviting artists, designers, makers, and fearless creatives to create wearable art for the 2027 Fashion Show Gala, celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Art Center Cinema.

This year, we’re stepping into Hollywood before the censors arrived.

Inspired by the glamorous, provocative, and wildly creative Pre-Code era, we’re looking for original runway creations that explore the spirit of the time:
✨ Confidence + rebellion
🖤 Noir glamour + moral ambiguity
🥂 Luxury + dazzling nightlife
💋 Forbidden romance + powerful women
🎞️ Wit + cinematic storytelling
This is NOT a period costume show.

We don’t want replicas! Take the elegance of old Hollywood, mix it with the freedom of wearable art, and imagine what might have walked the runway before the rules took over.

Artists of all disciplines and experience levels are encouraged to participate. Sew it. Sculpt it. Construct it. Embellish it. Reinvent it. Make it unforgettable.

The Fashion Show Gala will feature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, the runway show, and a festive after-party with DJ Carbon.
