🌟Introducing our second featured artist of October, textile artist Carolyn Nelson (Carolyn Nelson)!🌟

“I am an obsessive stitcher, hoarder of threads and chaser of light. My work is inspired by the freedom of the open field - a field of grass or of rocks, a field of water, of snow or of words, a field created from simple stitches, knots, bits of paper or metal, shell or mica. Layers of hand dyed transparent silk form the base of a collage.
Hand stitching forms patterns. Patterns change, dissolve. Hand dyed silk threads reflect light and the picture changes constantly. I imagine. I search.

I dye. I compose. I stitch, often taking months to complete a piece. My hands work hard at a variety of tasks and I am often asked where I got my patience. I can only say I do not have patience but I do have grit.”

🧶Carolyn will be providing a demonstration in front of the Arts Collective for Salida’s Art Walk, this Friday at 11:45am!🧶

🌟 Introducing our first featured artist of October, metalworker Shelby Cox (Shelby Cox)!🌟

Shelby Cox is a metal artist who uses found metal to make his robot sculptures and framed wall art. He lives in Salida, CO with wife, daughter, dog, and large scrap pile.

You’ll likely find his whimsical Robot Parade hanging out around Salida, surrounding areas, and of course, in the Arts Collective! Come adopt a robot today! 🦾🤖
