Happy International Cat Day! To help celebrate our worldwide love of cats, here’s a post with every international artist with work currently on display at Salem Cat Museum 😻🇺🇸🇯🇵🇩🇪 🇫🇷 🇧🇷🇺🇦🇪🇸🇨🇦🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧🇵🇪 We just received a few of these pieces this week! It’s been amazing to have the opportunity to work with cat artists from all over the world in the space of Salem Cat Museum. Also in this post is a few pieces we’ve missed showing you in other gallery posts— as well as a shoutout to the museum’s first international press in the Mexican 🇲🇽 newspaper Reforma written by Tonatiuh Rubin we received recently 😻🙏🏻😻🙏🏻

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!! Salem Cat Museum is excited to welcome back Salem Cat Aid for another fun and educational pop-up event this Sunday 8/9/26 between 12-3pm! You can snuggle kittens, learn about the important work Salem Cat Aid is doing and how to help, learn about the new Cat Distribution Center coming to Salem, and did we mention snuggle kittens?!?! We can’t wait! The cat museum is also donating a portion of our sales for the months of July-August to help the Cat Distribution Center— we’re very excited about this opportunity for the cats of Salem! 😻😻😻 Salem Cat Museum is located at 107 Boston St, Salem MA

Salem Cat Museum’s 7th cat art display iteration has been installed and is on-view until 11/11/26 😻🎉😻🎉 Here’s a list of every artist on display right meow— there’s over 80 🙀🙀 Starred names mean they have work for sale at Salem Cat Museum. Getting ready to say goodbye to all the incredible art that participated in Salem Cat Museum’s Spring/Summer 2026 gallery 😻👋🏻😻👋🏻 Everything that was borrowed will be sent back or picked up in the next few days to make room for the new exhibition (opening reception: 7/31 6p-8p) 😻😻 Thank you so much to all the participating artists and everyone else that stopped by to admire the work this cycle 🙏🏻😻🙏🏻 You have until close of business 7/27 to see what’s left— we look forward to seeing everyone at future exhibitions too 😻😻

🐈‍⬛🎉 Coming up 7/25 Salem Cat Museum is pleased to host a pop-up with Black Cat Rescue , an area rescue group that pays special attention to black cats and the fact they are the least likely to be adopted out of shelters (maybe not true in Salem— but that’s still true a lot of other places) 🖤🐈‍⬛🖤🐈‍⬛ Black Cat Rescue will be on site with kitties from 12-5pm this Caturday! To help celebrate, we’re hosting a special “Black Cat Giveaway” — all you have to do to win the prize package is comment on this post and be able to pick it up locally if you win (sorry, we’ll have other giveaways in the future for people that live further away). Winner will be selected randomly at 5pm on 7/24 (please be able to claim prize within a few weeks if you win). Prize package contains copy of “Penelope Kitten’s Epic Adventure with Cheese” a cute story about a black cat on their way to Salem by Marcy Very Much , a Jiji-themed journal from Chronicle Books , a lucky black cat pouch designed by NathalieLete, an obsidian cat crystal, a black cat pot holder by Nakeddecor.com, a cat stamp from Japan and a black cat pen 🙀🐈‍⬛🖤🙀🐈‍⬛🖤 That’s over $80+ worth of black cat stuff! We’re almost through the notifications for Salem Cat Museum’s art call for the next exhibition that starts 7/30/26 😻🎉😻🎉 We have ~100+ more emails to send out— hopefully they will be done today 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Please bear with me as I navigate through the notification logistics 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thank you to all that applied!! As with the last art call, this one again had over 500 applications from all over the world 🌎 It’s so nice to see there’s such strong talent in the cat art niche everywhere! Salem Cat Museum is a small space— if your art wasn’t selected it likely has to do with the overwhelming response and less to do with your actual art quality— please do not take the rejection personally if you get one. For those accepted we can’t wait to see your work on display next cycle! Come check it out at the opening reception on 7/31 6p-8p at Salem Cat Museum (public welcome) 😻🎉😻🎉

Thank you so much to artist Diana Teeter for popping up yesterday at Salem Cat Museum 😻🙏🏻😻🙏🏻 We are honored Diana chose the museum to debut her new series of cat art pieces —many visitors and art fans were delighted as well! Fear not if you missed out, Salem Cat Museum still has Diana’s art on display and we added a bunch of the new prints to the gift shop! Follow Diana Teeter for more awesome animal art and check her out online or at pop-ups (based on NY, but goes other places too) 😻🐦🦊🎉

We can’t wait for this Caturday 7/18! The special artist pop-up featuring Diana Teeter will be at Salem Cat Museum from 12-4 that day! You’ve seen (and loved) a few of Diana’s amazing cat paintings in the museum’s collection— they will be debuting a whole new collection of cat-themed paintings & merch at Caturday’s event! 😻🎉 We are so excited and honored to host Diana for the day! It’s also ironic that they are coming to visit us as we’re wrapping up our 5th art call — they were the very first artist we didn’t know personally to let us borrow art back in 2023 🙀 We’ve been big fans ever since— we can’t wait until our first in-person meeting on Caturday! Won’t you join us too?
Oh and if you’re into other animals, Diana paints those too (though those won’t be part of the event). Pigeon fans especially will want to follow Diana Teeter if you’re not already 😻

20 pieces of art you have less than 20 days left to see in Salem Cat Museum’s Spring/Summer exhibition until 7/27/26 😻🙀😻🙀😻🙀😻 There are actually 60 pieces of art that were borrowed for last cycle — we’ll show you the rest in other posts— most will be going back to their rightful owners after they are taken off the wall of Salem Cat Museum. Some are for sale in the meantime— so if you were thinking of adding one to your own collection the time is meow! I’ve been grumpy thinking of taking these down soon and rehanging the gallery (you can see my current museum curator mood captured by the Michelle McElroy kitty in the last pic) — it has been a joy to look at all this art for the last few months so it’s always bittersweet when it changes! But don’t worry— my grumpy mood will likely disappear once the new exhibition starts arriving and we have more cat art to share…. There’s been 300+ applications on the current open call for cat art which ends 7/15— the next round should be ameowzing too 🙏🏻🙏🏻😻😻🤞🏻🤞🏻
