Yes, you're right. The 2 pictures show the inner workings of a desk that belonged to William Luzier, who was once the train master at the B&O station in East Salamanca. And that desk is now part of the Salamanca Rail Museum collection and sits in the Museum's office. Thanks to the donors Stella and Garth Johnston, and our volunteers Jim, Chris, Sue, and Mike Z who helped move it and put it back together!

More work to be done but this was an absolutely great start. Thanks to the Cattaraugus County DPW for bringing in and hauling away the dumpsters! Also thanks to Tom, Sue, Father Mariusz, Kari, Mike J, Mike C, Marian, Rick, Cindy, Jim, Chris, Jonathan, and Stan for your help!

Due to the increase in Coronavirus cases in the area, we will be closing today for the rest of the month. This includes this weekend's model railroad exhibit. We will reevaluate towards the end of the month if we will be opening in December. We are considering having the model train exhibit reopen in the spring.

We also wanted to thank those who came to our special event. In 2 weekends we were able to almost meet our goal for the 3 week exhibit.

Reminder, tomorrow we will have a work session. We will be building a temporary roof on the wood caboose and if we have enough people, clean some of the other cars and maybe even start removing the interior walls and garbage from the Erie boxcar that was added over the years. We plan to start at 10 AM, but come anytime. We plan to be there all day.

Can anyone here explain the background of this group of Erie Rail Road employees? Is it related to WWII ? This pin belonged to my Grandfather who worked in the Car Accounting Offices of the Cleveland Union Terminal until his death in 1967.....
As a docent in the Hornell Erie Depot Museum , I am inquiring on protocol for receiving visitors when the museum is allowed to reopen. The director of our little museum is looking for insight as ...do we continue to wear masks, distancing , etc. Any thoughts you wish to share would be most welcome. Eugene Baker at [email protected]
Spotted this yesterday behind the museum. What rr did this belong to?
Does anyone know where I can find a roster of cabin cars in operation in PRR's Northern Region around 1949? I have three cabooses to build (N5, N5c and N6b) and would like to do something accurate, if possible.
Years ago I had the track diagram board from the BR&P Falls Creek Interlocking tower. I gave it to a guy with the understanding that he would donate it to the Salamanca museum. Just wondering if the board ever made it to the museum.
Memories......Tinsel falling from the Christmas tree and shorting out your Rail Road under the tree..... Some called it Flak.......LOL
Great train museum. Highly recommended.
Does anyone have information about Erie operations about 1951? I'm working on a small HO layout and would like some prototype insight!
Was there Saturday and talked to some great people and found the kits . I will bring on my next visit
We had such a lovely visit today! Thank you so much for taking the time to talk with us and show us all around. We look forward to our next visit!
