Presentation spotlight: Charles E. Peterson and the Historic American Buildings Survey in Ste. Genevieve, presented by James Baker.
The program will include a brief history of Charles E. Peterson's career in historic preservation and his association with the National Park Service during his time in St. Louis during the early development of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial (The Arch). It will focus on his early research and interest in Ste. Genevieve during the 1930's, and the role of Ste. Genevieve in his landmark proposal for the creation of the Historic American Buildings Survey in 1933.
