A peek of Trayvon Bromell through my lens.
Wow, isn't it amazing seeing these kids grow up and accomplish spectacular things in life? At age 15, sporting a mid-top fade with a smooth debonair look, (i still have the photo Trayvon-lol) Trayvon was part of a youth group that I taught audio/video broadcasting for doing the Sunday announcements at our church, the group was called Youth Anchors for Christ.
But today, Trayvon Bromell is one of the fastest American professional track and field athletes who currently holds the junior world record and on this past Saturday, he brought home the bronze in the men's 100 meters final.
The most important value a successful runner holds is having faith in himself. Trayvon's belief in himself lead him to overcome the pressure of the game. And this ultimately became the first step toward his conquest this past weekend.
People often talk about your successes, but they never know what you have been through to get it. Adversity once introduced himself to Bromell when had met a serious injury on the track which put him in a situation where it was hard for him to move his leg. This accident was really bad for Bromell and the outlook of his career in running. In those tough times, Bromell and his mother embraced Adversity as they got to know it better, a wonderful thing happened - together they got through the situation.
After his recovery, Bromell had still that unbeatable passion for racing, which provided him with the fuel, the strength to run faster than ever.
The other important factor that has helped Bromell reach this point was his hard work ethic. He has spent countless hours training and in practice to work toward building up his speed, strength, and stamina.
A famed victory does not always come alone, sometimes it is accompanied by elements of defeat, failure, and countless tries. The same is the case with Bromell's success: he met defeats too, but he always took some lessons away from those defeats.
With the help of his motivation, courage, and persistence, Bromell has earned the title to be a record-breaker. He broke the 10-second barrier in the 100 meters within a time period of only 9.97 seconds ultimately ending up in breaking a world record.
Another important thing that helped Bromell earn this success was his being fearless: he was never afraid of losing the game. All he knew was that he has to run the fastest of his ability and accept the triumph and downfalls.
Bromell’s values helped him fight the adversities he came across. Hopefully, this reflection will be helpful for me or anyone facing adversity to be successful in their own life's game!
Congratulations Eugene, Marvin, and Trayvon on sweeping the men's world 100m final
