As the only statewide nonprofit representing Florida’s fine craft artists, Florida CraftArt is a member-supported organization that helps mentor and advance artists. Headquartered at 5th Street and Central Avenue, this vibrant organization has been at the center of St. Gallery visitors delight in original, handmade fine craft — ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, sculpture, and wood — created by more than 250 of Florida’s finest craft artists. Every artist is vetted to ensure that the art is of the highest quality. During the year, there are seven curated shows in the Exhibition Gallery featuring local, regional, and national artists. Admission is always free to the galleries. Educational programming includes walking and bike mural tours, artist’s talks, lectures, hands-on activities, and workshops for adults and children. On the weekend before Thanksgiving, the annual CraftArt Festival welcomes more than 10,000 people to a free outdoor art show featuring 100 outstanding fine craft artists from around the country. The two-day festival held in downtown St. Petersburg is an ideal time for holiday gift shopping. Sponsored Emerging Artists are mentored and given the opportunity to launch and expand their careers. Founded in 1951, Florida CraftArt’s primary goal is the success of the fine craft artists of Florida, helping them develop into profitable professional artists. The gallery staff and board of directors are invested in mentoring artists in product development, marketing, pricing, and business practices. Florida CraftArt has a Permanent Collection of Fine Craft and other exhibitions that travel to art museums and organizations. On the second floor of Florida CraftArt’s 100-year-old building are ArtLofts, 20 artists’ studios. ArtLofts are open by appointment or by chance and on second Saturday ArtWalk.

Thank you to 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐇𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 Jenny K. Hager-Vickery and 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐲 Lance Vickery! It was so interesting to hear about the processes and concepts behind your work in 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘦. Your teaching philosophies and the opportunities you continue to create for your students at the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚 UNF Sculpture left us feeling inspired and excited to continue collaborating with our community.

Thank you to 𝐃𝐫. 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐞𝐮𝐞𝐫 for sharing the incredible research that you and your art history students have done, and continue to do, on craft in the state of Florida. We’re excited to see where this collaboration leads and to explore how FCA’s archives can help tell the story of Florida’s rich craft history. As we celebrate 75 years of Florida CraftArt, we’re grateful for the opportunity to preserve, share, and build upon the legacy of craft in our state.

Celebrating one year since Gillian Harper joined our team as Gallery Manager 🌷💖🌷We are so grateful for everything she does for our organization in ways big and small. Her precision, grace, and big picture thinking allow us to continue to serve our community of craft artists across the state. Thanks a million Gillian!

In addition to leading our gallery team she is an accomplished metal artist, casting natural ephemeral materials and solidifying them in molten metal. Check out her incredible seed pod installation, “G+M^2” in “Formed by Fire” - on view now until October 24th 🩵

New work has arrived in the gallery!

We’re excited to welcome new pieces by Tampa textile artist Sarah Hannah Sarah 🐢 and metalsmith Denise McCarthy.

Sarah creates original quilts and handmade textile art that beautifully blend craftsmanship, creativity, and function. Her work brings warmth, color, and personality to everyday spaces.

Denise designs and fabricates highly textured silver jewelry that balances precision with artistic expression. Paired with striking stones, her pieces showcase rich surface details and thoughtful craftsmanship.

From molten metal poured into molds to fabricated structures assembled through cutting, welding, and forging, this exhibition highlights the dynamic relationship between precision and unpredictability that defines work in metal. Each artist engages with the material’s unique physical properties, embracing both its strength and its responsiveness to fire, pressure, and time. 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘦 celebrates the enduring versatility of the medium and the many ways artists continue to push its expressive and technical possibilities.
