📸 Faces of Inequality: Depression Era Photography: Now Open!

During the hardships of the Great Depression, photographers across America turned their lenses toward the lives of marginalized and disenfranchised communities, capturing both struggle and resilience with remarkable honesty.
The Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement presents Faces of Inequality: Depression Era Photography, a powerful exhibition featuring thirty photographs by Dorothea Lange, Eudora Welty, Marion Post Wolcott, Ben Shahn, Walker Evans, and others. On view in the museum’s fourth-floor graphic design gallery, the exhibition explores how documentary photographers interpreted American life during one of the nation’s most challenging eras.
Through images of poverty, labor, segregation, resilience, and everyday life, these artists transformed photography into both historical record and social commentary — giving lasting visibility to communities too often overlooked.

Happy Birthday to Charles Prendergast born on this day in 1863! 🎉
Although he has often been associated with art movements such as Post-Impressionism, Modernism, or Fauvism, artist Maurice Prendergast was clearly a true independent. His highly personal style contains a sense of energy and motion, with bold, jewel-like colors and rhythmically arranged, simplified forms.
