🚗🌶️What an incredible day at the Car rally and chili cook-off here at Newell!!! This fundraiser got the museum one step closer to completing our cabin project.🌶️🚗

Yesterday was a blast seeing the awesome vintage cars, tasting delicious chili, and celebrating community spirit. It was amazing seeing the antique vehicles drive in like a rolling piece of history and a testament to automotive craftsmanship.

A huge shout out to our chili chefs- your culinary skills were truly on display! 👩🏻‍🍳🌶️ Congratulations to our chili cook-off winner, Jan Burrows, whose spicy bourbon creation had everyone talking! 🏆

And let's not forget the raffle! 🎟️ There were some fantastic prizes up for grabs, and the excitement was palpable when a winner was called. Thanks to everyone who participated, the chapters who donated baskets and made the day so special.

A big thank you to everyone who came out and supported the event, the volunteers who did an incredible job running the event, and all the sponsors who made it possible. Your enthusiasm and support are what make these events such a success!

This Saturday is our Car Rally & Chili Cook-Off! We are looking forward to checking out all of the cool cars that will be there. The Model T, often hailed as the car that put America on wheels, has some fascinating history. Here are three things we have learned:

1. *Mass Production Revolution*: The Model T was the first car to be mass-produced using assembly line techniques. This innovation, pioneered by Henry Ford, drastically reduced production costs and made automobiles affordable for the average person. The price of a Model T dropped from $850 in 1908 to under $300 by 1925 due to these efficiencies.

2. The “Engine” Behind It: The Model T’s engine was so simple and rugged that it was often said to run on almost anything. Henry Ford famously joked that the car could run on a mix of ethanol or even gas made from potatoes! While this was more hyperbole than practical advice, the car's engine was indeed robust and flexible, contributing to the Model T’s reputation for being a tough and dependable workhorse.

3. It Had a Built-In "Fun" Feature: The Model T’s dashboard included a switch that could operate a “clearing” feature for the exhaust system. If you wanted to clear out any accumulated carbon deposits, you could press the switch to create a little puff of smoke. Some drivers, having a sense of humor about their car's quirks, used this feature to amuse their friends or to make their presence known in a somewhat theatrical fashion!
