Administrative & Communications Coordinator (Part-Time)
Location: St. Johnsbury, Vermont (Hybrid/Remote)
Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week
Compensation: $20 per hour
Reports To: Board President
About CMNEK
The Children’s Museum of the Northeast Kingdom (CMNEK) is a new nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring curiosity, creativity, and pride in the Northeast Kingdom through hands-on learning experiences that celebrate the region’s art, history, culture, and natural environment.
As we continue to grow, we are seeking a highly organized and proactive Administrative & Communications Coordinator to help keep projects moving forward and support communication among board members, volunteers, community partners, and the public.
Position Summary
The Administrative & Communications Coordinator serves as the organizational hub of the museum, helping ensure that information flows smoothly between committees, community partners, and the museum’s Marketing Director.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys organization, communication, project coordination, and helping a mission-driven nonprofit grow.
Responsibilities
Administrative Support
* Monitor and respond to routine museum email inquiries
* Maintain contact databases and mailing lists
* Organize digital files and documents
* Maintain organizational calendars
* Track deadlines and follow-up tasks
Board Support
* Assist with scheduling board and committee meetings
* Prepare and distribute agendas and meeting materials
* Track action items and committee assignments
* Send reminders and follow-up communications
Communications Coordination
* Serve as a central point of communication among museum committees and partners
* Coordinate information from school liaisons, library partners, committee chairs, volunteers, and event coordinators
* Prepare organized summaries and content packets for the Marketing Director
* Maintain a communications calendar for museum programs, events, and announcements
* Help ensure marketing materials contain accurate and timely information
Fundraising & Community Relations Support
* Maintain sponsorship and donor contact lists
* Assist with donor acknowledgments and thank-you letters
* Track fundraising activities and community partnerships
* Help coordinate outreach efforts
Event Support
* Assist with planning museum events and outreach activities
* Coordinate volunteer sign-up information
* Help organize registrations and event logistics
* Support community engagement efforts
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
* Strong organizational and project management skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Experience using Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or similar software
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
* Attention to detail and follow-through
* Friendly and professional communication style
Helpful but Not Required:
* Nonprofit experience
* Administrative experience
* Event planning experience
* Communications or marketing experience
* Volunteer management experience
