John Herbon Pottery

John Herbon Pottery johnherbonpottery.com John Herbon pottery creates a world of its own in the minds and hearts of its admirers. Over the years he has built nine of his own kilns.

A potter since 1974, John has combined the elements of his surroundings with an unmistakable functionality rarely found in the realm of modern art. He prefers a high-fire method for increased durability and strength instilling a sense of timelessness in every piece of art he creates. He mixes his own glazes creating truly unique pieces which, from first glance to last, demonstrate a profound respe

ct for the verdant majesty of Mother Nature. The sights and sensations of his travels through the Australian Outback, along the California coastline, through the Colorado Rockies as well as the forests of Northern Michigan have all influenced his work and are evident in each piece John creates. John’s art has been in several of the country’s top art fairs and has earned numerous awards. Perhaps it is the foreign yet universal aspect of his art that assures us that humanism can live in harmony with naturalism. Perhaps it is his portrayal of wildflowers, fish, or other wildlife which produces a feeling in the owner that his work may best be appreciated when lain next to a Hemingway novel. One thing is certain, John Herbon pottery is a unique opportunity to own a view of nature and its eternal quality.
