Climb aboard and hold on tight. Our haunted hayride winds through the dark, historic grounds of the Dorchester Heritage Center in Ridgeville.

Then, step over to the stage to enter our costume contest for a chance to win cash prizes. We dare you to create the best costume in Dorchester County! There will be categories for kids and adults.

Or, run for your lives during the One-Mile Costume Trail Run. Dress up, lace up, and explore the historic trails at Dorchester Heritage Center in costume — a fun way to explore the grounds before the real terror starts. All skill levels are welcome.

Heritage Haunt truly has something for everyone! Live entertainment, a food truck alley, Hatchet Hollow axe throwing, pumpkin carving, trunk or treat, Glow Foam Night, and much more—the event will bring together the best of Halloween tradition and Lowcountry community spirit. Quilts tell a story with color, precision, skill, and creativity…and they keep us warm and cozy! Join us to celebrate this traditional craft that dates back to the 17th century. The Dorchester Heritage Center’s 9th Annual Quilt Show is planned for December 4-11 at our St. George location.

Our expanded 2026 show promises to be the best yet, with new themed categories such as America 250 and Christmas, along with an added children’s division.

We are thrilled to offer homeschool families a brand-new curriculum for our Friday Field Trips! Designed to encourage homeschoolers to extend learning beyond the home, our tailor-made programs bring local history and culture to life.

On October 23, our theme is “All About Cotton.” Touch it, clean it, spin it, and explore post-harvest practices of cotton and its impact on the inland Lowcountry. Hint: It’s still a big industry today!

On the 4th Friday of each month the Dorchester Heritage Center offers thoughtfully planned, local-centric lessons and activities designed by our educational staff. Sessions will be held throughout the day unless otherwise noted.

*Homeschool Friday activity is suitable for students aged 7 and up; Only students 7 years old and up will receive the discounted price.
*All homeschool Fridays are a regular day at the museum with an added event/activity related to that month's chosen theme.

*There is no registration or tickets to be sold ahead of time.
*Admission is the regular price of admission: $8 adults, $5 for seniors and veterans, $5 for students under age 7.
