Asarco Mineral Discovery Center & Mine Tours

We offer mine tours daily! Be sure to bring your closed toed shoes. Copper is at the source of our modern society. The self-guided tour of the center is free.

It's a primary metal used in the hospitals where we were born, the electricity in our homes, the tools that farm our food and the transportation that powers our next adventure. Copper is also naturally found in us and is critical to our survival. We invite you to take the free self-guided tour through our indoor and outdoor exhibits. Then join the mine tour to have a firsthand look. Afterward, peruse the Company Store for unique gifts and educational items. Senior, military, and children discounts on the mine tours.

🌵 Did you know Arizona has 5 C’s?

For generations, five key industries helped shape Arizona’s history and identity:

🐄 Cattle
🌱 Cotton
🍋 Citrus
🪵 Climate
🟠 Copper

Each one tells a different story about the people, landscapes, and resources that helped Arizona grow.

And when it comes to Copper, Arizona has a story that reaches far beyond its mines. ⛏️🌎

✨ Which of the 5 C’s surprised you the most?

09/08/2026

Okay, we have a very serious scientific question. 🔬
What could fit in here?

🚫 Correct answers are NOT allowed.
A swimming pool?
A dinosaur? 🦖
Your entire Monday morning? ☕

We want your best WRONG answer. 👇
Because sometimes the easiest way to understand just how BIG mining can be...
is to have a little fun with scale. ⛏️

👀 Something is changing behind these doors...
We can’t show you everything yet — and maybe that’s part of the fun. ✨
A familiar place is getting ready for new ways to explore, learn and discover.

For now, curiosity will have to do what it does best: wonder what comes next. 🔎

Stay tuned. The next chapter of the ASARCO Mineral Discovery Center is taking shape. 🧡

📸 This photo leaves something out.

🔥 It can't show the heat.
⚙️ It can't show the sound of machines at work.
⛰️ It can't show how small you feel when you're standing in front of something this enormous.

Some places are too big...
too alive...
to fit inside a single photograph. 🌎

✨ That's why the best part isn't what you see.
👀 It's what you experience.

💙 We'll be ready to welcome your curiosity when the Mineral Discovery Center reopens.

At first glance...
it might look like abstract art.
Or the surface of another planet.
Or a painting.

It isn't.
Nature has been creating masterpieces for millions of years.
All we have to do...
is slow down long enough to notice them.

✨ Which detail caught your attention first?

Something new is taking shape. 👀

More to discover. More to explore. And a whole new experience waiting to be revealed.

The ASARCO Mineral Discovery Center is getting ready for its next chapter. ⛏️✨

What do you think is coming?

Stay curious. More clues soon.

🔥 From rock to radiant metal.

Deep within the Earth, copper begins as a mineral hidden in stone. Through the power of science, engineering, and heat, it transforms into molten metal—ready to become part of the technology we use every day.

Every pour tells a story of Earth's natural resources and human innovation working together.

✨ Nature creates it. People transform it.

✨ Something exciting is on the horizon!

The ASARCO Mineral Discovery Center will temporarily close beginning the second week of August as we begin an exciting renovation project.

We're creating an even better place to explore the story of copper mining through new experiences, updated exhibits, and fresh opportunities to learn together.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We can't wait to welcome you back and share what's coming next.

Stay tuned—we'll be sharing updates along the way! 💙
