Kovalenko’s Flowers of The Sky series aims to celebrate the unbreakable spirit of the incredible women who have ventured into the great unknown. Kovalenko strives to capture their unwavering determination and the boundless awe they experience as they explore the vast expanses of space-inner and outer, real and metaphorical.

“A bold and intrepid adventurer, she embarks on an extraordinary journey, discovering a realm of boundless potential and embracing the exhilaration of uncharted horizons.”

John Lark’s paintings explore interpersonal relationships and the dynamic connections between individuals and their environments. The figures and surroundings examine interactions marked by both harmony and discord, intimacy and distance, reflection and investigation of relationships, societal dynamics, and the ongoing dialogue between mind and body.

Each piece begins with shape and color, then evolves through layered combinations of images that build the composition. This process of revealing and obscuring echoes the way past experiences accumulate, interrupt, and shape us as individuals and communities.

Lark’s work is currently on view as part of, Consider the Alternative, a group exhibition currently on view at Slattery Gallery that explores new trends in contemporary painting.

The influence of British painters such as Lucian Freud, Frank Auerbach, and Francis Bacon is clear in Hamid’s artwork, though he has successfully developed a distinct and skillful visual language of his own. Centering on the pervasive objectification of the female form, Hamid preys on our voyeuristic instinct, often with scenes of public nudity or amateur p**n. His aim, however, is not to titillate but to extend the very act of viewing.

Startling disjunctions of perspective and proportion, blurring, erasures and pencil lines suggest that the artist is exploring how far he can push abstraction without losing his original subject matter. The result invokes a different, more physical sort of memory: the way someone sits, laughs or smells. In short, portrayals of what is normally felt rather than seen.

Hamid’s work is currently on view as part of, Consider the Alternative, a group exhibition currently on view at Slattery Gallery that explores new trends in contemporary painting.

.gallery is proud to present TIME CAPSULE, the first U.S. solo exhibition by Israeli artist Ronit Porat.

Porat’s work explores the interwar period in Germany (1919–1933), a time of profound societal transformation and significant photographic innovation. Through a meticulous process of collecting, layering, and reassembling archival materials—such as postcards, magazines, and maps—she creates poetic collages and immersive installations that blur the boundaries between personal memory and historical narrative.

Porat is particularly drawn to Berlin’s Weimar Republic era, a period of social upheaval and artistic innovation. It was an age when the human body took on new roles in photography studios and advertising, reflecting empowerment and objectification. This historical period resonates deeply with Porat’s personal experiences and the history of the kibbutz where she was born. TIME CAPSULE derives from Porat’s major series from the past decade, offering a multi-layered visual dialogue that examines identity construction, control mechanisms, and the intersections of personal and collective memory.

This beautiful painting by Darina Karpov is so full of stunning detail and narrative elements that you might find it hard to believe that the work is only 7 x 5 inches. This work, as well as a number of other small paintings on paper, are currently available .

Over the years, as an artist, Karpov’s process has often involved the rendering of tangled thoughts, skeins of memory, and the mapping of synaptic connections in her mind. This imagery, often abstract, and in her earlier work figurative, is rooted in her childhood in the Soviet Union. The entanglement, confusion, anxiety of that time collides with a child’s sense of wonder, free association, and vision.

This stunning wall-hung sculpture by Elisa Ortega Montilla is currently on view . This small multi-media sculpture is one of my favorite works by the Spanish-American Artist.

Ortega Montilla’s series of hand-carved sculptures challenge traditional gender binaries and the ways we are taught to perceive bodies, embracing fluidity and rejecting convention. Through the pieces and their titles, Elisa aims to subvert the frameworks that traditionally define bodies in the impossible pursuit of perfection.

Playing with Light, our current solo exhibition with Danielle Frankenthal is currently on view through April 5th. When you’re visiting Chelsea, please pop in to see this beautiful show curated by writer and critic Lilly Wei.

Danielle Frankenthal is celebrated for her pioneering approach of using acrylic panels layered with various paint techniques. Over three decades, she has developed an innovative visual language that merges physical and illusionistic space. Her multidimensional works evoke ephemeral landscapes and atmospheric nuances, brought to life through dynamic brushwork, pearlescent grounds, and gilded details.
