Today was installation day. Roots & Routes: African Diaspora, Cultural Memory and Belonging, an exhibition exploring the ways our histories, identities, cultures, and journeys remain connected across generations and places.

Seeing the work physically installed in the gallery was a different feeling altogether. There’s something special about watching a piece leave the studio and become part of a larger conversation.

We’re grateful to witness the work of the incredible group of artists whose work speaks to the richness and complexity of the African diaspora.

Jordan Kalé is an eclectic soul singer, songwriter, and producer from Sacramento, California whose music radiates love, emotion, and movement. A musical prodigy raised in church, Jordan began performing at just nine years old, eventually sharing stages with artists such as Jhene Aiko, Ludacris, Sevyn Streeter, and BJ The Chicago Kid. His signature sound—rooted in soul but seamlessly blending R&B, pop, and alternative influences—draws inspiration from legends like Lenny Kravitz, Ryan Leslie, Aaliyah, Brandy, and Prince.

In 2022, Jordan made his solo debut with Time, which landed at # 25 on the iTunes R&B charts, followed by All in My Feelings in 2023. Both tracks introduced listeners to a deeply expressive artist unafraid to explore vulnerability, healing, and passion. His debut album, Outta My System (2024), continues that mission by unpacking four years of emotions, growth, and self-rediscovery—merging personal storytelling with infectious groove and spiritual reflection.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐥𝐨𝐟𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨 & 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐲.

Over the years, we hosted incredible art shows, concerts, workshops, classes, and community events. We even kept it pushin’ through Covid.

But after I caught Covid myself—and it nearly took me out—I no longer had the desire to host public events in this space.

Today, it’s still an art studio. Just no longer a gallery.

These days, I host events elsewhere while focusing on rebuilding the foundation that everything else stands on: me.

I’m back in school, working, sharpening my skills, traveling, and learning what it truly means to love myself in a healthy way.

𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐨𝐫’𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐤𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠. The difference is that now I’m moving at the pace I should have started with—allowing God to direct my steps instead of rushing the process myself.

Some seasons are for building. Some are for healing. Some are for becoming.

Right now, I’m embracing all three.
