Tonight’s the night! Will you be able to solve the murder of Ancil Deering? Our fall fundraiser, “A Mystery at Deering Mansion” is kicking off tonight at 6pm. It’s alive! Unleash your inner mad scientist at our Frankentoy Lab. We'll take old, discarded toys apart and mash them back together to build brand-new, creepy-cool creations just in time for Halloween. Join us on Friday, October 30th at 3:30PM for this cool and creative program! We have some toys, but feel free to bring a few to share. Recommended for ages 6 and up (note: hot glue guns will be used during this program). Come ready to dismantle, rebuild, and create!

A really wonderful performance from Thomas Charles Clukey at S**o Museum this weekend! Thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy his powerful set surrounded by our current exhibit, “Mixed Palettes”. We look forward to offering more opportunities to hear local musicians in such an inspiring setting!

Ever wanted to hang out in the library after dark? Teens in 8th–12th grade are invited to an after-hours scary movie screening of the OG Beetlejuice on Friday, October 30th from 8-10PM! Grab your friends, bring a blanket and pillow, enjoy free snacks, and kick back for a spooky movie night. Free for ages 14+, but space is limited! Don't miss the opportunity to see the current S**o Museum exhibit "Mixed Palettes", showcasing the diverse and exuberant work of three local artists: Bob Dunn, Ray Lund, and Steve Shiman. The exhibit runs through Friday, October 23rd and is free to the public thanks to a generous donor.

In connection with the exhibit, Bob Dunn will also host an oil pastel demonstration in the gallery this Thursday, October 22nd at 6PM.

Join us this Saturday, October 17th, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM for live music in the gallery featuring local singer-songwriter and Longfellow Emerging Artist Fellow Thomas Charles Clukey!
Experience original roots music surrounded by the S**o Museum’s current exhibition, "Mixed Palettes," featuring work by local S**o artists Bob Dunn, Steve Shiman, and Ray Lund.
Admission to the museum is free for this exhibition thanks to a generous donor.

A reminder that you can still visit the Youth Services Room in the month of October to shop for new-to-you Halloween costumes and accessories! You don't have to donate anything to be able to shop, but we will continue to accept donations of gently-used costumes and accessories through the end of the month.

What’s harder than getting a zombie to stop craving brains? Getting one to make the cheerleading squad!

Join local author and teacher Mr. Fuller for a hands-on writing workshop on Thursday, October 29 at 2:30PM! Together, we’ll take the classic monster trope and turn it upside down. Tweens will brainstorm the absolute worst jobs and hobbies for the undead, then create a determined zombie main character who is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve the impossible. Expect lots of laughs, clever storytelling twists, and creative fun.
