Our new exhibition opens with a reception on Sunday, May 24th, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Four Eyes 2 Visions, the art of Mike Alexenko and Shelly Beech.

Where film and pixels meet ink and pigment, using cutting-edge technology, experiments, and old-world processes. Mike and Shelly combine film, pixels, ink, and pigment in their artistic collaboration. Friends for decades, their partnership merges photography and printmaking as they explore light, shadow, and techniques together. From shutter click to hand-pulled photogravures, they edit and deconstruct images, ensuring each piece tells a compelling story.

Four Eyes 2 Visions is at the Deines from May 24th to July 12th, 2026.

We are having 2 times the fun at the Deines tomorrow. Starting at 1:00 you can come listen to musicians play country and bluegrass. Bring your acoustic instrument if you'd like to play along and bring your favorite food for the potluck!

Then at 2:00 the Russell County Fair Board will be here to announce the winners of our first Russell County Free Fair Poster Contest.

Come see the creative poster designs, listen to great music, and enjoy the community spirit.

Both events are free and open to the public.

We lost one of our beloved Russell artists last week. We will be honoring him with a special showing of a selection of his paintings in the second floor gallery throughout the month of April.

Pat Underwood's artwork celebrated his deep affection for nature, animals, and the Kansas landscape. His art captured the quiet beauty of rural life. As we celebrate his life and work, we invite the community to join us in reflecting on the legacy he has left behind. His paintings will not only serve as a reminder of his incredible talent but also as a reminder of the joy and tranquility he found in the world around him.

On Saint Patrick’s Day 1933 in Humboldt, Kansas, Lowell Patrick Underwood was born to Ruby (Gaddis) and Lowell Jerome Underwood, a young couple.

Our next featured artist is Shawn Delker from Salina. Shawn Marie Delker is a dedicated fiber artist. Primarily self-taught, Shawn’s work is executed exclusively in thread. She has established distinct techniques and a signature style to achieve her hand-guided machine embroidery art, which she creates on heavily stabilized fabric.

The Deines Will host a reception for the opening of On the Edge Sunday, March 29th from 2-4pm.

Her exhibition, On the Edge, is at the Deines from March 29th to May 17th, 2026.
