A very special thank you to Jerry Wellnitz for creating this float for the Fun Days parade yesterday. When displayed at the museum it is a folded triangle and it is hard to imagine how large it is. Nebraska was the 37th state so this was the flag right after we became a state. I like to imagine it was displayed or flown at Camp Sheridan when our country celebrated its centennial. I say, "It would be fun to have the flag in the parade." VOILA!! He really does amazing things for our museum.

This very special flag at the museum is 150 years old. It has 37 stars and the 37th star added was for Nebraska in 1867. This flag flew at Camp Sheridan north of Hay Springs sometime between 1874 and 1880. The 38th star for Colorado wasn't added until 1877. It is very possible this flag was flying at Camp Sheridan during the USA Centennial in 1876.

Sandhills Institute presents Karla Garcia's art installation, "Archive of Land." The exhibition will be on display from July 10 to September 27 at the Rushville Armstrong House Museum. Join them on July 10, 2026, for the opening reception, which will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
