Embroidered eye with eyelashes or 'diamond' faceted glass bead for eyes. (Kids call these beads black diamonds because they refract light. (They do look kinda magical). This image has been in my mind forever. Baby wearing mamas. The special twist is that their dress wrap, baby wrap, and head scarf are all in sari silk remnants. I but these through a free trade agreement with Indian women who scour factories for leftovers to create ribbon or yarn to sell. So they get a good chunk of what I pay. Here is a tribute of mamas loving their babies wrapped in the silk they salvaged to care for their own babies.
