SPOOM’S archive collection now at Newlin Mill in Glen Mills is being transferred to a new location at Ressler Mill foundation in Ronks (next to Mascot Mill) on July 31, and able-bodied volunteers are needed to assist in either of these two scenarios.

Meet at Newlin Mill at 9 a.m., load the transport vehicle with pre-boxed archives as directed by Tony Shahan, drive on your own or in a car-pool 1 ¼ hr. to Ronks, and unload, placing boxes as directed by Tony, then return to Newlin. This would be a full day’s commitment.

An alternative is to assist at either Newlin or Ronks – either load or unload – and not have to travel back and forth. This would be a full morning or a full afternoon commitment.

We’ll need up to 6 volunteers helping, whether it be the same six at both locations or 6 different volunteers at each location.

Please call or email me for more information or if you’d like to commit now to one or the other of these opportunities to give your support to this important SPOOM project which benefits all SPOOM members including those of SPOOM Mid-Atlantic.

Thank you,

Charlie Yeske, SPOOM President

Many of our visitors stop by on the way to or from a Sight and Sound show. That's great! Those shows are worth the trip. But did you know that the Mascot Mill will stimulate four of your five senses?
See the movement of the belts and gears as the mill operates, hear the sound of the machinery, feel the vibrations as the mill releases its power, and smell the aroma of freshly milled corn meal!
We hope to see you soon. Don't forget to allocate at least an hour and a half to enjoy the full tour of the mill and house.

Opening Day! We had 21 visitors stop by yesterday.

New this season is a model of the mill built by Ken Nissley. It features a cutout view to the interior of the mill and has working machinery! We hope this will help people be able to have a broader vision of the operation of the mill beyond just the first floor. The 2026 season opens on May 1.
