The RLHM had a small booth in the very first Rollingstone Farmers Market on May 12th and it was so much fun! We met some new people and saw some old friends and familiar faces! We shared information on our open dates, summer picnic event, and what we have been up to the past year. We had some of Mary Nilles' books for sale and some T-shirts. It was so much!
We will be back at the next Rollingstone Farmer's Market on June 9th from 4-7pm. We will be selling Root Beer Floats in June, along with books and t-shirts. The 1st Market was an absolute blast (even with the crazy wind), and we can't wait to see you at the next one!

Pictured are RLHM President, Steve Schuh, and Museum Volunteer, Jeanette S. at the 1st farmer's market booth!

On May 9th some of the museum members and volunteers had the honor of attending a fundraiser for the Marnach House in Elba, MN.
The Luxembourg Ambassador to the United States, Nichole Bintner-Bakshian was in attendance and was a huge part of the day! Kristin Speltz, Honorary Consul, organized the event. It was a day of education, appreciation of our shared heritage, and new friendships. We started the day with a tour of the cemetery where Mother Alred Moes and other Sisters from Luxumbourg are buried.
After this there was a reception with a video from Her Excellency's previous visit last summer.
We were honored to tour the gorgeous Assisi Heights grounds and courtyard. It is a beautiful and special place indeed! We cannot thank them enough for their hospitality. We enjoyed the most delicious luncheon of Luxembourg dishes prepared by the wonderful Assisi Chef from the cookbook that the Ambassador gave to Assisi on her last visit. It was a marvelous feast, and we even enjoyed some Luxembourg wine with our meals.
The afternoon began with honoring the late Mary Nilles. Her nephew, Luke Nilles, unveiled the plaque that will be placed in the Marnach House on June 6th. She did so much for Rollingstone, the Marnach House, and the Museum. She has written several books preserving our history that are available for sale at the museum. Nancy Roberts spoke about the Marnach House and some of its rich history. Two Sisters from Assisi taught us about Mother Alfred Moes and her significant contribution to Mayo and Saint Mary's Hospital. Her story is fascinating. We celebrated Mass with Father Abts and the Sisters. They had beautiful voices and many pulled out their instruments! The Chapel is absolutely breathtaking. We ended the day with Luxembourg soup and sandwiches. Ms. Speltz did an excellent job organizing this grand event and everyone who contributed made the day extra special.

It was a fun and busy day at the Rollingstone-Luxembourg Heritage Museum today! RLHM was honored to host students from Cotter, Aquinas, and students from two schools in Luxembourg; together with teachers, chaperones, and the Honorable Mayor of Junglinster, Luxembourg, at the museum today! They started their day with a tour of the Marnach House in Elba, then spent some time with us at the museum before a picnic lunch was served at the Rollingstone Park. Students also spent time touring Holy Trinity Church and Cemetary before ending their day.
