It was a fun and busy day at the Rollingstone-Luxembourg Heritage Museum today! RLHM was honored to host students from Cotter, Aquinas, and students from two schools in Luxembourg; together with teachers, chaperones, and the Honorable Mayor of Junglinster, Luxembourg, at the museum today! They started their day with a tour of the Marnach House in Elba, then spent some time with us at the museum before a picnic lunch was served at the Rollingstone Park. Students also spent time touring Holy Trinity Church and Cemetary before ending their day.

On Monday, June 14th, the Rollingstone~Luxembourg Heritage Museum celebrated with our Annual Picnic for friends, family, and community. It was a hot day at the Rollingstone Park, but we had a good turnout! We served hot dogs, baked beans, chips, pickles, beverages, and desserts. Musical entertainment was provided by the very talented James "Mudcat" Grant. RLHM President, Steve Schuh, and local talent, Edwin Maus, also entertained us with a few tunes on fiddle and accordion. The RLHM would like to thank all of you who attended, and we look forward to doing this again next year!

Happy Luxembourgish National Day!

The official birthday of The Grand Duke, also known as Luxembourgish National Day, is always celebrated on June 23rd... even though no ruler of Luxembourg was actually born on that day.

The festivities and fun begin the afternoon of June 22nd. The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess host a reception to open and close the celebration at the Berg Castle. There is a torchlight parade, a fireworks display, and dancing.

On June 23rd they begin the festivities at the Luxembourg Philharmonie. The Grand Duke, the President of Parliament, and the Prime Minister give speeches. Afterwards there is a traditional military parade and then Te Deum, a religious service at the Notre-Dame Cathedral of Luxembourg.

The Luxembourg National Anthem, Ons Heemecht, is an important part of the day! It is not a rousing war song like most anthems, but instead an appeal for peace. We have attached the Luxembourgish and English translated versions for you to enjoy.

Grab yourself a glass of Crémant de Luxembourg or a Bofferding Pilsner and celebrate the day! The RLHM wishes you all a Happy National Day!
