I have my favorite families that I have done ornaments for year after year.
I love that we have gone through so many milestones “together”.

Outside of my individual favorites, my favorite ornaments to do are for same s*x couples.

When I started doing ornaments and those who couldn’t find an ornament that fit their family dynamic and I could do it for them. It was, and still is, an amazing feeling.

In the spirit of full disclosure:
While, yes, all those reaching out for ornaments gave me the ego boost I required to get my a** in gear, there is something else.
I did a Daphne.
I purchased the most ridiculous thing recently.
Something I do not need. Will never have the opportunity to use. Something so obnoxious and boujee it is absolutely mind boggling. I don’t even have the space to store it and there is no way I am sneaking past Douglas when it (actually they-as on more than one) arrive tomorrow .
In other words I really need to paint about 150 ornaments to makeup for my “serious lack of judgement” (said in Prof McGonagle’s voice).
Pray for me!!

I had absolutely no intention of doing ornaments this year.
I’ve said this every year for the last several years and usually cave around the end of October.

The older I get the longer it takes to do ornaments. I have to wear glasses now.
My butt gets numb after sitting for too long. I get crabby if I don’t have snacks every 45 minutes. Plus some people just make me mad…. AND I’m trying to live a life without irritation.
As much as possible!

HOWEVER, once again, so many people have reached out asking about them that I’m caving….again.
This is the latest I’ve ever started ornaments, and per the Daphne way, I’m sure it will be the usual sh*t show of chaos and caffeine.
Especially since it’s starting out with me, logging onto Etsy to reinstate my store only to discover I never put it in vacation mode as I had thought.
There’s orders waiting for me…
(Fortunately, just a few since I only had a few items listed…. That’s still a whole lot of apologies for my not responding promptly.)
To make matters even worse, upon the discovery, somehow my shock led to my dumping an entire 16 ounce latte all over my desk.
Phone.
Mac.
Notebooks .
Pens.
🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
So give me 24 hours and I will have the Etsy shop filled with the designs I will be doing this year.
I’m off to take care of those who have already placed orders and respond to the numerous requests about placing orders!

It’s been a really long time since I posted on here.
The last several seasons have just flown by.
I had no intention of offering ornaments this year.
When I started painting them in 2009, I had absolutely no idea how much my little side gig would blow up.
Over the last 15 years business has gone from good to outstanding, the price being my spending from Halloween to Christmas, missing out on things like cookie baking, present wrapping, boardgames, tree decorating…. It probably wouldn’t have interfered so much if I was better at time management…. Plus I’m a lot older now than when I started. Much slower!

So this year, I did not utter the word Ornament or Etsy sales or doodles. I kept the online shop in vacation mode. Didn’t go anywhere near my email.
Until I did.
The email at the top of the list asking if I was doing ornaments this year was from a woman who I’ve been doing them for since the beginning. Scrolling down email after email was from previous customers telling me how much they mean to them and their family and was I please going to do them again this year.
So here we are.
November 14th,I reopen the shop less than 24 hours ago and already have several orders.
I will keep the shop open until the end of November.
Please order early as the older I get the longer. It takes me to complete each one.

Hey everyone,
We’re back!
Apparently, and this is odd, Daytona has pretty sketchy cell service (for AT&T anyway).
One the way home, right around Jackson I was flooded with notifications of questions via Etsy convo, FB messenger and email as well as sales!

I am sorting through this mess now and will get to everyone in the order that things were received.
Please bare with me.

They were super cute, and unlike the Hatteras birds, not nervous of people at all!

Hey…that’s not Hatteras!

On another beach, hundreds of miles from home.
It’s interesting here, a change of pace, just me and the hubby.
No kids, work, responsibility…just him figuring out where he is going to take me to eat next to keep me happy.

We will be returning home soon and the ornament orders will be my focus for the next several weeks.
If you have placed your order in the last several days, your ornaments will be completed and shipped upon my return, the week of Thanksgiving.
If you have yet to order your ornament, please do so, sales are getting crazy and I have limited the amount I am doing this year.

If you message me and I do not respond immediately I apologize.

The moment I declared that there would in fact be ornaments being made this year and that the Etsy shop was being stocked I started receiving orders.
☺️
Currently it is still a manageable amount that can be done at the dining room table…although, my family might disagree with “manageable amount” and be slightly displeased that there are currently cases of ornaments, shipping boxes and bubble wrap strewn throughout our living space.
🤷🏼‍♀️
I wanted to update everyone because this season is going to be a bit different than previous ones.

For the last decade (longer actually) I have done nothing, and I mean nothing, from the beginning of October to the week before Christmas, except paint, pack and ship ornaments.

Since the ornament adventure began my darling husband has been in charge of decorating the house and cookies (although after the gingerbread men and women that one year he has been forbidden from the people shaped cutters).

This year, I will be doing things!
Including a trip with one of my darling daughters to Dollywood, a trip to Daytona with my fabulous Bearded man and a few weeks in a rustic (but not too rustic, gotta have indoor plumbing) cabin with the family.

So, order to ship times will be different, there will be a cut off date for ordering.

My best advice is ORDER EARLY!

The post office has proved problematic in recent weeks with things I have ordered and I know they are having national delays, to avoid any delays during shipping, and possibly missing the cutoff date I set, this is the best option.

I APPRECIATE ALL OF YOU SO MUCH!

I never thought that first year when I just happened to doodle a little UM vs OSU ornament and post it on FB that it would turn into a full time job, three month out of the year anyway!

And I said to everyone, I am NOT doing ornaments this year.
I am getting old.
I swell up and my butt hurts if I sit too long.
I have to wear glasses when I doodle now.
My wrist aches.
I need a nap.
I just don’t wanna.
My mind was made up.

And then the Gods said, oh no, child, except it came in the form of my husband telling me that I am only as old as I make myself feel.
AND
A friend telling me that god had gifted me with a special talent.
AND
My daughter telling me I was boujee and needed the extra income to suport my horrifying shopping addiction.
AND
People messaging me on Etsy, Facebook, Instagram, emailing me and asking me if I would make them an ornament because they get one from me every year and it’s tradition….
SO.
Stocking up the Etsy shop.
Turn around time is about a week.
Ornament numbers will be limited this year, I am thinking I will cut off after 250.
