CALLING ALL TRI-COUNTY ARTISTS!
COME HELP US FILL OUR GALLERIES WITH YOUR BEAUTIFUL ART AT THE MARIA V HOWARD ARTS CENTER, Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences LOCATED IN ROCKY MOUNT, NC.

Here is great opportunity to showcase your work! If you are an artist,18 years or older, and native or live in Edgecombe, Nash, or Wilson County, you are eligible to submit your work in our first People's Choice Art Show.

To enter, you need to complete the application and pay a small fee. $10 for one entry OR $20 for two entries OR $25 for three entries
Cash prizes will be awarded to winners selected by the public.

Come check out our new exhibit at the Maria V Howard Arts Center! Art That Tells A Story is now on display May 19 - September 6, 2026 featuring works from our permanent collection. This exhibit consists of works that pull the patron into a story either through pairings of various works from the collection or individual works of art. The public is invited to share their thoughts on the works of art.

This exhibit is curated in conjunction with the Children’s Museum's current summer exhibit: Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites. Their exhibit asks visitors to step into interactive favorite storybook scenes, while the arts center asks the visitors to bring their own story and experiences into the interpretation of works of art.

"Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites™"

Beloved children's books come alive in "Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites™." Step into the pages of seven beloved and award-winning children’s books as you journey through life-sized scenes designed to develop early literacy skills and open a life-long love of learning. Each story is transformed into a 3D play space where children interact with the story and its characters. Build a snowperson in “The Snowy Day,” explore an oversized alphabet playground in “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom,” harvest vegetables in “The Tales of Peter Rabbit” and more. Play games, solve puzzles, and use your imagination, as you travel through the following books – “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” by Beatrix Potter; “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats; “Where’s Spot?” by Eric Hill; “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” by Laura Numeroff; “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault; “Abuela” by Arthur Dorros; and “Tuesday” by David Wiesner.
