Carrie Florida lived in the Ames-Florida-Stork House in the 1800’s and 1900’s.

Very early photo of a group of young women from Rockford taken in about 1880. It is labeled Alice George, June George, Kit Moore, Gertrude Leonard and Carrie Florida. The George girls were daughters of Gilford George, one of the founders of Rockford. Alice George would marry Geo. Lucas from Rockford who took the earliest known photographs of our community. June George married John Kearney. I believe that Carrie Florida is seated on the far right. A wonderful archive from the Rockford Area Historical Society and part of the Ames-Florida-Stork House Museum.

You can still enter the Ames-Florida-Stork House from County Road 10 while there is construction on the bridge. Feel free to drop in Fridays 10am-2pm to visit or take a tour. Call to schedule an appointment outside of Fridays.
