Join us and Whispering Souls Paranormal-Investigations on Saturday, March 22nd at 6PM for Spirits & Bites - Springing the Spirits! The Whispering Souls crew will show what it is like to be part of a real paranormal investigation as they will lead a full 5 hour investigation of the mansion. Learn what techniques and equipment they use to try and capture proof of who is still roaming the halls of Hauberg Estate. Perhaps John is still upstairs working hard in his office. Is Susanne enjoying the view of the grounds from the master bedroom? Or maybe Ms. Ross or Mrs. Bennett are still going about their daily tasks in the house.

Tickets are $40 and include a taco bar starting at 6PM. Tickets are available through Humanitix. https://events.humanitix.com/spirits-and-bites-springing-the-spirits/tickets

It’s time for What’s Been Happening At Hauberg! Last fall we started working on our nature based STEAM programming. Robbie Palm from Wild Ones starting contacting different organizations and we have partnered with Spring Forward, Wild Ones Quad Cities Chapter, Guardians of the Prairie and Forest, University of Illinois Extension with their 4-H and Master Gardners program and Rock Island Public Library to bring you Curious By Nature. What an amazing collaboration with so many talented people. The estate offers 10 acres of outdoor experiences and classes also in the carriage house. Spring Forward will be in the carriage house in March and April with their kids, May and August will bring Hauberg’s programs. Fall will have 4-H programming. We are still working on a full calendar and will announce when it’s completed. These classes are free to kids K-6. Curious By Nature’s class schedule will be put on our website calendar with instructions on how to sign up. Special thanks to Mandel Design and Chris Mandle for designing this fun logo. PS: Spring Forward has their fundraiser at Mercado on March 8th, please try to attend and support all of our organizations in educating our youth with the importance of nature.

Join us in the Carriage House on Thursday, February 20th at 7PM for the Hauberg History Series! Joining us this month will be Curator of History and Anthropology, Christina Kastell, from the Putnam Museum. She will be recounting the mystery and truth behind The Davenport Tablets Conspiracy.

In 1877, two engraved slate tablets were discovered in a burial mound site southwest of Davenport. One contained pictures and primitive writing, the other was a calendar stone marked with 12 signs similar to the European zodiac.

Were they proof of early European settlers in the region, or a practical joke gone bad? No less prestigious an institution than the Smithsonian first authenticated them, then later declared them a fraud. Find out how the infamous Davenport Tablets helped change archaeology forever.

Doors open at 6:30PM and admission is $5 cash at the door. Current members to Friends of Hauberg get in for free.

Its always amazes me when we put original things back where they belong, it feels like they were always there. It’s been 60 years since these original carriage house lights have adorned the front of the building. They have been rewired, stripped and polished. Board members and volunteers donated their time and money to bring them back to life. James Jordan and Garrett Alderson, from Public Works, came over today to hang them up and they are a WOW!
