Where do I start on everything that transpired today. Thank you United Way and Deere employees for helping us at the estate today. 90 volunteers, waxed wood, pulled weeds, dumped mulch, planted the urns and planted over 90 bushes in the Formal Rose Garden. The most exciting was the delivery of the Formal Rose Garden urns and caps for the brick pillars so the pergola can be put up. It’s an amazing transformation and we can’t thank our volunteers enough. ❤️

The Hauberg Native Plant Sale continues today from 10:00-4:00. Yesterday was busy all day, but we still have quite a selection of asters, goldenrod, grasses and red currant bushes left and other natives plants as well. You can also come and learn about the man who started it all. We honor Jens Jensen everyday at Hauberg Estate, but one day in particular we have Jens Jensen Day and that day is today. We will have 2 showings of The Living Green, a documentary on the life of Jens Jensen, one showing at 12:00 and the other at 2:00. Immediately following the showing there will be a tour of the Jens Jensen landscape. We are so fortunate to have one of the 5% left intact Jens Jensen landscapes right in Rock Island and at Hauberg Estate. It has been slowly coming back to life over the last 10 years and It truly is a hidden gem. We hope to see you there!

The last time we had seen the old utility poles we are using to construct the rose arbor with, Stella Sawmill was picking them up in order to cut them to the size we needed. That has since been completed and they were temporarily stored at Longview Park. Now it is time to bring them back and stain them and we could use your help!

The plan is to move the wood from Longview on Thursday, May 14th beginning around 12 PM. Meet with Fred at Longview and bring some gloves!
Then on Saturday around 9 AM, you can help Todd with staining the wood! Meet in the parking lot at Hauberg Estate.
