Join a virtual talk with artists Ni-Ka Ford and Leslie Barlow for a conversation about art, identity, health, and the power of storytelling on Tuesday October 27, 2026.

Ni-Ka Ford , a board-certified medical illustrator, combines scientific research with artistic practice to create accurate, inclusive visualizations of the human body. Leslie Barlow is a Minneapolis-based visual artist and educator whose life-sized paintings explore race, family, love, friendship, and identity.

Together, Ford and Barlow will discuss how art can make complex experiences visible, create space for underrepresented stories, and encourage greater empathy and understanding. You can view their artwork currently on view as part of the group exhibition Forms of Care: The Art of Representing the Body at Rochester Art Center through January 31, 2027. This exhibition is curated by Zoe Cinel and LaVanda Mireles .mireles.art.

Rochester Art Center and the City of Rochester are seeking an artist or team of artists to bring creative ideas to Rochester’s Detours Lead to Discoveries downtown wayfinding campaign!

Artists working in a variety of mediums are encouraged to apply.

Have an idea for an outdoor art installation? Art4Trails is looking for artists to bring their creativity to Rochester’s trail system!
A committee of community members will select 3 temporary, site-specific installations, with $3,000 awarded per site.

Whether you’re an emerging or established artist, this is an opportunity to share your work with the community. Artists ages 18+ living in Minnesota and neighboring states are encouraged to apply. Collaborative proposals are welcome, too!

Join us on Saturday, October 10 at 1pm for a Spotlight Tour led by Christopher Selleck. Free and open to all.

Christopher Selleck (.selleck) received his BFA in Photography from the University of MN-Twin Cities in 2013 and his MFA in Visual Studies and Photography from the Minneapolis College of Art & Design in 2016. Selleck currently divides his time between an active studio practice and teaching at the college level.

Using sports and masculinity as a lens to view identity, his various projects of the last few years have focused on this area of identity construction. His current projects address issues of hyper-masculinity, sexuality and the male body. His practice has tended to focus on portrait and self-portrait based projects, often utilizing formal studio strategies that prioritize the engagement between the artist and the model. Photographic prints and books have been central in his practice, but his work has also incorporated video, sound, installation, printmaking and sculpture.
Selleck’s work is featured in "Forms of Care: The Art of Representing the Body." Exhibition on view: Saturday, May 16, 2026 - January 31, 2027. Curators: Zoe Cinel () & LaVanda Mireles (.mireles.art).
