Tomorrow, Saturday, October 10th is the big day!! We are ready for this signature event, and can't wait to welcome you to the 2026 Stone Wall Pumpkin Festival at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm from 10am-4pm for pumpkin carving and fall activities.

After carving, don't forget to leave your spooky jack-o'-lantern on the stone walls surrounding our historic site and re-visit us from 7-9pm for our magical pumpkin glowing event! You are welcome to come back on Sunday to take your creation home with you.

We are looking forward to lighting up all of the fabulous carved pumpkins on Saturday night, for hundred's of guests to admire...

The Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm's signature event, Stone Wall Pumpkin Festival is one week from today! Join us on Saturday, October 10th from 10am - 4pm for pumpkin carving and fall activities perfect for a family outing! Leave your creative jack-o'-lantern on the historic stone walls that line our property and we will light it up for you and the community to admire that evening from 7-9pm. The more pumpkins on the wall, the more enchanting the evening!! We understand some of you want to take your creation home, so come back on Sunday (or any day after) and check out the line up in the daylight, and gather your pumpkin then.

Public: $12.00 per person ages 2+
Museum Members: $8.00 per person ages 2+

Join the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm as we launch a new program starting this fall: "History Bites," where guests explore our community's history through the lens of photos, newspapers, and artifacts, while sampling food prepared by local chefs!

Thursday, October 15, from 6:30-7:30pm will be our kick-off session in this series, featuring Chef Deb of Silver Shamrocks and a dive into Ferry Morse Seed Farm. In 1852, Dexter Mason Ferry moved to Detroit with plans to attend college and began a night job as a bookkeeper for a small seed house. Four years later he became a partner in the firm. Hear the fascinating story of this experimental company, how its seeds helped a nurse in WWII, and what sits in its original footprint today. Chef Deb of Silver Shamrocks will use photographs and seed packets as inspiration to put a modern twist on local fruits and vegetables from the 1900s.

Happy World Postcard Day - We pulled this gem from our archives and collections to share with you...

The first postcard was introduced on October 1, 1869 as a way of sending a simple message. Think of the joy you have felt upon opening your mailbox to find a little snapshot of a place outside your own community, with a special message on the back letting you know someone was thinking of you on their latest adventure.

Every postcard begins as a small piece of paper, but once it is written, stamped, and sent, it becomes something much larger: a bridge between two people. It is with that thought that this year’s World Postcard Day theme is “Paper Bridges” - Celebrating the metamorphosis of a paper object into a special form of connection that bridges the space between sender and recipient.

So in honor of this day, get out the old box of postcards from your closet and sit down to compose a special paper bridge to someone special that you are thinking about today!

Mark your calendar, Tell your friends and neighbors to Save The Date for the Museum’s upcoming signature event, the Stone Wall Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, October 10th, from 10am until 4pm for pumpkin carving and fall activities. The show goes on, rain or shine!

Plan to leave your carved masterpiece, large or small, on the historic stone walls lining the property and it will be lit up to enchant hundred’s of guests as they visit between 7 and 9pm that night - The more pumpkins aglow, the more magical the evening event becomes for the community! Feel free to re-visit our site on Sunday or the following week, to take your jack-o'-lantern creation home with you.
