Roanoke from above, where green hills and rooftops push up against each other in equal measure. And then, zoomed all the way in, a single rose rendered in oil so carefully you can almost smell it.

Paul Vivier’s goal with his art is to bring more wonderment to your life. We think he succeeds with his work seen in “Flowers & Tower View”.

Opening tomorrow night at Art Project Roanoke (5:30p) and runs through mid-July.

Wow! What fun we had with the VIA Centers for Neurodevelopment group who joined us for some making yesterday!!! We turned squiggles and shapes into collaborative creatures and imagined up monster families and even did a little paper weaving! Thank you for sharing your colorful creativity with us ❤️🫶🧡

Feeling a little hole in your art-making heart now that Daisy Art Parade is past? We got you ...

Our mission is fostering social cohesion through the exuberant act of making art together. Which is a fancy way of saying we really just want you to come make stuff with your neighbors and see what happens.

Right now that’s looking like puppetry on Monday nights: shadow puppets, full-body puppet construction, performance work, led by the wonderful Mike Moran, and a free, open-studio printmaking collective on Tuesdays led by Brian Counihan, who you may know as the creator of the Daisy Art Parade.

Both are drop-in, both welcome total beginners, and both are exactly the kind of thing we started this place for. No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to show up. We’d love to see you there!

The Roanoke Times stopped by last week and we love that the Daisy Art Parade is the reason why.

Giving the parade a home this year has been a true privilege. At its core, the Daisy Art Parade is exactly what Art Project Roanoke is about: people showing up, making things together, and finding joy in the process. Hosting build sessions, displaying the parade art, and opening our doors more often has given us momentum, purpose, and a clearer sense of what this space can be for this community … plus a lot of wonderful new friends along the way. :)

Thank you Brian Counihan for creating something that so wonderfully captures the creative spirit that lives in this quirky Blue Ridge city. 10 days until parade day!!!

Arts and culture aren’t feel-good extras for a city. They’re what makes a city worth living in! They bring people together, drive economic activity, and build the kind of identity that makes Roanoke Roanoke.

Art Project Roanoke is working to help grow that engine here and we need people who want to be part of it.

We’re hosting two Volunteer Interest Meetings this week. Come hear what we’re building and figure out where you fit in.
