Had a great weekend with some great guys who drove from Simi Valley, Bakersfield and Tulare to help preserve the B-29 “Flagship 500” at March Field Air Museum. The stabilizers and rudder are all painted. Their next trip we will be tackling the wings.

Working on the B-29 this weekend. Team Shine has a pass, while Neil, Carl and Squirrel (aka Tim) cam all the way from Tulare, the home of “Preston’s Pride”, to help us preserve history.

Look who is part of the team once again.

March Field Air Museum

A huge March Field Air Museum thank you to Joe and all the Team Shine guys for all the hard work and dedication in restoring the finish on our B-29 Superfortress.

The work they have done is beautiful! Flagship 500 is well on her way to looking exactly as she did in 1945 when she was dedicated to the 4th Marine Division. You have honored the memory of the brave Marines of the 4th and the gallant B-29 crews who fought the campaign in the Pacific.

A special note to Greg of B-17 Archeology: your help on this project, like so many others, was indispensable. Without your remarkable coordination and fund raising talents none of this could have happened...and you built the shower!

Thank you all!

Did you guys know about this? !
Your website is down.
San Diego 2010, I was are able to reunite the crew of B-29 #44-62252 that had been shot down on April 12, 1951. At the time we didn't know that Lt Harold Armstrong was still alive. Sadly, two of these heroes have left us.* L-R Marvin King (right gunner - POW)* Daniel Oldewage (Tail gunner - POW) James Adams (radioman - parachuted over Suwon rescued)*
