Footsteps To Freedom

Footsteps To Freedom The tour includes an immersion experience and time with experts to develop new educational models for positive social change in their context.

Since 1997 Black Voice’s Footsteps To Freedom Underground Railroad Study Tours have led educators on an 8 day experiential learning journey retracing the steps of freedom seekers from enslavement to freedom on a probable route of the Underground Railroad. Participants gain knowledge and expertise of the Underground Railroad freedom movement as well as the concept of empathy as a necessary tool for

parents, students, educators and community leaders. This experience provides the historical background, key studies and analysis of race, politics, culture, and engagement, to equip teachers with the perspective and tools to develop new resources for their context.

Today we mark Harriet Tubman Day, honoring one of the greatest freedom fighters in American history. Each year on the Footsteps to Freedom tour we travel to Auburn, New York, where we visit the home where Harriet Tubman lived the final years of her life and the place where she is laid to rest. Standing there reminds us that freedom movements are carried forward by ordinary people who choose courage.

In that spirit, we’re launching the first Footsteps to Freedom 30th Anniversary Merch Drop today.
