RF Man To Ride 80-Year-Old Bike, July 1980

Tim Paterek of Tim's Bike Shop, is pictured with a bike which is approximately 80 years old. It was purchased from a collector in the Twin Cities. Paterek said it is not a replica, but an original which goes back to the turn of the century. The bike goes by a number of names, Paterek said -- High Wheeler, Big Wheeler, Penny Fathing or Ordinary are some of them.

Plans are to restore the bike to the condition it was when it was made which means nickel plating, hand rubbed lacquer, locating some missing parts and a lot of elbow grease by Paterek. The bike will be in the River Falls Days parade on July 19.
