We are beyond honored to be hosting this year's Art Exhibition and Showcase for the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters Awards!

In 1978, the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters was created by a group of local cultural advocates. They knew without a doubt that our greatest state treasures were the artists, writers, and musicians who built the very cultural foundation of the place we call home. Since then, MIAL has worked to nurture, support, and recognize Mississippi creatives in every field from visual arts to creative writing. Knowing the history of these awards, along with having seen both of these artists grow into the creative visionaries they are now, makes it an absolute honor to help continue the legacy of these prestigious awards.

This year we will be helping to acknowledge Jerrod Partridge and Kat Fitzpatrick for their amazing accomplishments in the fields of Visual Arts and Photography. Next Friday the 12th starting at 5pm, there will be an open reception celebrating the work and talent of these fantastic Mississippi artists. All are welcome to join us as we come together to discuss and enjoy the amazing works that will be on view.

Sometimes inspiration strikes, and you simply have to follow it. ✨

That was exactly the case when we brought together Cathy Hegman’s luminous Blue Heron and one of Rod’s captivating Furies. Certain pieces seem to find each other naturally, and the moment these two shared a space, we knew something special was happening.

The softness and movement of Cathy’s painting paired beautifully with the raw elegance and quiet intensity of Rod’s sculpture. Unexpected, a little dramatic, and completely mesmerizing together.

One of the best parts of living with art every day is getting to play, experiment, and discover combinations that stop us in our tracks. This pairing did exactly that.

Happy Mother’s Day to the women who shaped us, supported us, encouraged us, and somehow always knew exactly what we needed, even before we did.

This post is a little different from what we usually share, but it felt important to take a moment to celebrate the moms behind all of us. The ones who taught us how to care deeply, work hard, and find beauty in the world around us.

The greatest joy in my life has been raising my two amazing boys, Spencer and Alexander, and I’m sure John’s mom would say the very same. Watching them grow into thoughtful, hardworking, creative people has been one of life’s greatest gifts.

Today we’re celebrating all mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, and mother figures. Thank you for the love you give so freely and the countless ways you make life brighter. We hope your day is filled with joy, laughter, and time spent with the people you love most. 🤍

We couldn't let Mother's Day go by without sharing these fabulous pieces!

Along with Rod's Ballerinas, earlier this week we received three incredible Furies, which are all currently on view in our main showroom. No matter what else is on view, Rod's sculpture always melds perfectly. It's truly a marvel how his Furies and Ballerinas are so uniquely refined yet so eager to play with the work around them, creating something that might be unexpected but always simply delightful to look at.

We’re so excited to introduce all of our amazing collectors to the work of Laurin McCracken!

A watercolorist originally from Mississippi, Laurin brings a remarkable level of precision and clarity to his work, drawing inspiration from Dutch and Flemish still life painters while pushing watercolor far beyond what most expect from the medium. Within his pieces intricate reflections and layers of detail unfold the longer you spend with each piece. Every composition is thoughtfully built, yet still open to those subtle, unpredictable moments that watercolor allows. The result feels both exacting and alive.
