Catch costumed educator Rebecca Suerdieck out in our gardens from 12pm-3pm on Friday, August 21st. Learn how perfumes and other fragrances would have been made centuries ago at Agecroft Hall!

Rebecca will have her copper alembic and some freshly distilled rosewater for you to smell.

Learn about the distilling process and then swing by the Agecroft gift shop where you can find custom scents all made by Rebecca!

This demonstration is included with the price of garden admission.

On Thursday, August 20th at 7pm, head to Agecroft Hall & Gardens for a lecture by Dr. Nancy Parrish. In "Royals, Aristocrats, and WWI," Dr. Parrish will trace the role of royals in the unfurling of what they called The Great War, British aristocrats’ naïve welcome of it, and some of its consequences reaching even into the present century.

Refreshments will follow.

Discover the centuries-long phenomenon that was the English East India Company, and learn its connection to corporate bailouts, government lobbyists, London's Docklands, and the emergence of the British Empire as a global trading power.

This special focus tour, which will be led by Agecroft tour guide Terry Jones, is scheduled for August 15th from 11am-12pm. Space is limited. Tickets available at https://www.agecrofthall.org/events/rogues-to-riches-8-15-26

Escape the heat with a self-guided tour of Agecroft Hall, Richmond, Virginia's very own Tudor manor house museum!

Agecroft Hall stood in Lancashire, England for centuries before it was purchased by an America businessman and transported across the ocean in the 1920s.

Following its time as a private home, Agecroft Hall and Gardens opened as a museum in 1969, and we're fortunate to welcome thousands of guests each year for tours of the manor house and visits to the gardens.

Our extensive museum collection includes many Tudor- and Stuart-era artifacts as well as some items from the early- to mid-twentieth century to honor the memory of the home's 20th-century American owners.

This Friday, August 7th at 6pm, join Agecroft staff and Kaity Bevenour (pictured) of Bloomistry Garden Co. for "Poisonous Plants," a talk and tour about the unexpected history and modern uses of poisonous plants in garden spaces where beauty and danger can grow side by side.

Discover how these powerful plants have shaped medicine, garden design, the stories we tell about the landscapes around us, and even the works of William Shakespeare.

At the end of the event, participants will receive one sun-loving plant, one shade-loving plant, and a Dahlia root — all medicinal or landscape-friendly plants that have toxic components but are safe for general use — to take home with them!
