Lando Manetta Mills History Center

As we are starting to take orders for the Lando Walkway, we have concluded on a site for the walkway. With help from Historicaerials.com, we have a nice view of the roundabout that existed in the Old Lando Cemetery. Work has begun on clearing out the old roundabout as well as the rest of the old cemetery.

We have not decided on complete layout of the Lando Walkway. Input from Lando families is encouraged. We will discuss the Lando Walkway at the Lando Southern Summer Picnic on July 11th from 11am till 1pm

Bricks for the Lando Walkway are $25 each. That includes the brick and 3 lines of text with 20 characters per line

Our goal is to place the order by mid August and have the Lando Walkway started by Lando Days on October 3rd for everyone to see.

The Lando Walkway is still an ongoing project.
We have narrowed down placement of walkway to 2 areas, beside the company store/office near Dr Gaston’s old office or at Old Lando Cemetery

Please let us know your thoughts or any other location that might be appropriate for the walkway.

Bricks will be $25.00 per brick. Each brick can have 3 lines of text with 20 characters per line(a space is a character).

This is not a profit making project. We want all Lando family names to be included. We will also have a “Friends of Lando” section for neighbors who support Lando.

The Day of Art at the Historic Lando Schoolhouse was an amazing day

Hundreds of folks came out to enjoy a hot dog lunch provided by Heath Memorial Methodist Church and hear the beautiful music provided by Keith Mosley. The Historic Lando Schoolhouse was once again visited by former students, Lando residents and new folks to Chester county. The potential future use of the Historic Lando Schoolhouse was obvious to all who visited.

The highlight of the day was the Class Reunion Photo. Former students reunited friendships that were long remembered. Stories about their school days were shared. Here are I few: last year students attended 1951, went to either Edgemoor or Oakley Hall. Students went home for lunch and the milk truck came every morning. Milk was served in small glass bottles.

The Lewisville High and Middle Schools provide artwork and 12 local artists painted on the window shutters. The artwork was spectacular!

Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped make his day possible. The Lando HC Maintenance team was assisted by Roxann Yarbrough and Eddie James, Caleb Perry, Brandon Kiefer, Brittany Pierce, Nathan Kiefer, Majorie Canty and Teresa.

The Lando Manetta Mills History Center could not do these events without the support from the community.
