Fun Fact Friday! In the early days of the settlement, stories about the Headless Woman of Moody Creek began to surface. No one knew where she came from but she always rode when the moon was high or a group was gathered at night. She was often seen riding after groups, her laughter echoing behind them. Late night picnic goers often would abandon their feasts to the headless woman only to discover days later that only the food was missing. Finally a man named Gooly got brave enough to attempt to discover her identity. Gooly and friends were out searching when she appeared and started to chase them. Gooly whirled around and began to chase the Headless Woman! Her mare stumbled and she tumbled off. Gooly jumped on top of her and ripped off the sheet to discover Smokey, the hired hand! The Headless Woman was never heard of or seen again.

Tell Us Tuesday! This typewriter was invented by Reverand Thomas Oliver and was one of the first “visible type” typewriters because it was designed to allow the typist to see clearly what they were typing. The typewriter is sometimes referenced as a bat wing because of the unique way that typebars are designed. It is one of the earliest typewriters in the museum’s collection.

For this week’s question, TRUE or FALSE: This typewriter was most popular from 1907-1914.
