JCHS invites these former Kankakee Valley High School Students, though sadly one cannot. These students and Mr. Norwine helped research the information necessary for the successful application for the Charles Halleck Historical Marker. Join in the Halleck Marker Dedication on Friday, August 21, 2026 on the SW corner of Halleck and 9th Streets, DeMotte.

It was fun at the 2026 Touch of Dutch Festival giving out our first 'Best Preservation' award to Trisha Foar's 1929 Model A. Thank you to Ray Zickmund for the custom trophy from his shop. We will do the same at Wheatfield Sandhill Crane Fest in September. We hope to do more car shows next year. See you then!

Sunday Night Mystery: There was no mystery Friday evening at Camp Kanne when four young men were honored as Eagle Scouts. Forest Nyberg, Braeden Bednar, Lincoln Manis, and Simon Manis with words from Father Stang, Michael Manis, and more celebrated their Court of Honor.

INDIANA BITS: Two weeks from today, Friday, August 21st, the Marker for Charles Halleck will be dedicated at 2 PM on the SW corner of Halleck and 9th Street in DeMotte. Join in the celebration for the 34 year Jasper County US Congressman.

We will have a 'Best Preservation' trophy to issue Saturday at the Touch of Dutch car show as part of our effort to be more visible around the whole county. This hand-built trophy has been donated by car enthusiast Ray Zickmund and we can't wait to see who the winner will be!

Our summer intern, Anna King, has helped us organize some of our archives and created a new display at the Rensselaer library with a St. Joseph's College collection that was just donated to us. Anna hopes to have a career in a museum someday and we are thrilled to support her on that journey.
