On June 25, join artist Jay Heikes for Alchemy and the Unknown, an artist talk exploring his experimental practice and the unexpected chemical processes behind his work. Through themes of transformation, entropy, evolution, and decay, Heikes investigates the fragile relationship between the natural world and contemporary society.

Featured in the 'Strange Weather' section of INTO THE TIME HORIZON, his work offers a striking reflection on instability, disruption, and change.

Ten years ago today, Seven Magic Mountains rose from the desert floor south of Las Vegas in luminous stacks of stone and color.

Created by Ugo Rondinone and produced by the Nevada Museum of Art and Art Production Fund, the installation has become part of countless journeys, memories, photographs, road trips, and moments of quiet reflection in the Mojave Desert. The towering formations continue to invite visitors to pause, look closely, and consider the relationship between human presence and the natural world.

What began as a temporary installation has remained a lasting landmark for millions who have experienced it over the past decade. Ten years later, Seven Magic Mountains still feels both surreal and deeply rooted in the landscape around it.

Thank you to everyone who has made the journey.

The groundbreaking film offers a visually stunning meditation on humanity, technology, and the natural world. Through hypnotic time-lapse cinematography and powerful imagery, the film explores what happens when life falls “out of balance.”

Presented in connection with the “Altered Lands and the Anthropocene” section of INTO THE TIME HORIZON, the evening includes an exclusive introduction and a special post-film Q&A with Reggio.
