Visit the museum on the first Wednesday of the month, May-September, from 2-4 p.m. during our summer open hours or schedule an appointment.

GRAB YOUR PASSPORT AND JOIN US FOR AN EXCITING ADVENTURE AROUND BREMER COUNTY.

Bremer County Historical Society, along with volunteers from Ira Sturdevant House, Poor Farm Foundation, Bremer County Supervisors, Readlyn Historical Society and Wartburg College, have been putting together an amazing adventure for you to experience this summer. Register today and pick up your passport starting May 1 at the locations listed on our website, and explore Bremer County history.

Travel to many of Bremer County’s cities, complete activities at historical sites, and get your passport stamped. Each location will have a different stamp. Some self serve locations will include directions on how to complete your activity and where to find your stamp. Once you have completed your passport, you can claim prizes generously donated by over 25 Bremer County businesses. Your passport will take you through museums, show you where to learn more about local history, and lead you off the beaten path.

This free program is open to all ages. The first adult (18 and older) and the first child to complete their passport will receive a grand prize. Everyone who completes their passport booklet will also receive a swag bag while supplies last and will be entered into a drawing at the end of the program to win additional prizes provided by local sponsors.

Two-day options for tours: October 15 and 16
Small group tours begin at dusk and continue into the night
Step into the shadows for an unforgettable evening of history. Explore the grounds by flashlight as you encounter spirits who share stories of their lives, deaths, and lingering presence. Limited car tours are available. Meet at Harlington Cemetery Entrance (1001`1st SW, Waverly, Iowa) ten minutes before your tour time.
After the tour, warm up with refreshments and dive deeper into the paranormal with a Q&A session featuring SIPS Paranormal Investigators at the Bremer County Historical Society (402 W. Bremer Ave.) The Ira Sturdevant House will be open from 5:00 to 6:30 pm for tours and historical stories before your cemetery tour.
